The late evening sun held a tinge of warmth to it that had not been present for moons. Snow still speckled the ground under the shadows of trees around Skyclan's camp, but leafbare would slowly lose the grip it held over the forest. Days had passed, and things weren't... Normal, by any means. But life still went on. Wolfblossom had appointed a deputy, ceremonies still happened... And today Skyclan would gain another warrior.
"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Wolfblossom stood on the tallbranch, waiting for her clanmates to gather.

Yewpaw settled among the crowd of cats, yawning softly. The evening sun felt nice - and it warmed his fur. He curled his tail around his white paws. The dawn patrols were a dread. Yet, Wolfblossom's familiar chant rose above the clearing. Deep down, though, he wanted to go to his nest and close his eyes.
He looked up at her with the same curious mismatched eyes as always, his ears perked. What was this one going to be about? There was so much to say now. He thought.

It wasn't long before her gaze found the mismatched eyes of the apprentice she was looking for staring up at her with curiosity. Enough of the clan had gathered, and it was time to begin. "Yewpaw, step forward." She called, offering the young tom a nod of reassurance. Taking another breath, the pale gray and white she-cat began to speak.
"I call upon our ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of the code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn." She began, "Yewpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to provide for and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Honeydew
Honeydew took her new place below tallbranch. It felt... strange, to be sitting where she'd always known Wolfblossom to sit while Birdstar called clan meetings. The deputy felt out of place here, but she shrugged off the feeling. All new deputies must feel this way at first, she decided, and tucked her fluffy tail around her paws, poised as Wolfblossom addressed the clan.
Honeydew knew why she was calling for this meeting, and her heart swelled. She missed her spot by Yewpaw's or Mallowpaw's side in the crowd, and made sure to find them with her eyes from her new position. She wanted to keep things a secret, but it was so difficult, knowing who was about to be joining her in the warrior's den. She'd done as he asked at her own warrior ceremony - she'd gathered fresh, soft moss and feathers to create a nest on her other side, opposite from Bubblebeam's. It would be waiting for him in the morning, after his silent vigil.
Her eyes found Yewpaw's and sparkled with encouragement, a silent message. Be ready, she willed him. This is your day.
As he stepped forward and Wolfblossom spoke the famous words, Honeydew had no doubt in her mind that Yewpaw would make an excellent SkyClan warrior. The young tom had been through so much already, and there was surely more to come. His presence as a warrior alongside her comforted Honeydew. It made this whole new deputy thing feel so much less scary. Her eyes shone as she smiled at him, waiting to cheer for his new name.

Yewpaw blinked, in shock, at Wolfblossom. This was it. This was the moment he had been waiting for - a path that he had watched his sister walk. This is what Paledove would whisper in his ear about.. Becoming a warrior. He took a shaky deep breath, his chest swelling with pride, and rose to his paws. He caught Honeydew's encouraging gaze and gave her a soft smile. She knew about this.
"I do." He promised, lifting his gaze back to Wolfblossom, tone laced with determination. He didn't take that lightly, acknowledging his vow to uphold the warrior code that had been etched into his heart.
The anticipation built in his stomach at what his new warrior name would be. His heart pounded in his chest. This was the moment he had been waiting for.

Honeydew sat below the tallbranch in the spot where Wolfblossom would have usually sat for these ceremonies. It was a strange feeling, but one that Wolfblossom would get used to. For now, her attention remained on Yewpaw, blue eyes meeting his mismatched gaze.
There was determination and conviction in his answer, and Wolfblossom smiled, choosing to ignore her own fears that the recent battle had brought so clearly into reality.
"Then it is my honor to welcome you as a full warrior of Skyclan. Yewpaw, from today you shall be known as Yewshade, and we honor your caution and loyalty." With those words Wolfblossom dropped to theground below, striding forward. "Congratulations, Yewshade. You will sit vigil tonight, may it be a peaceful one." She dipped her head to the newly-named warrior, taking a step back to allow the rest of his clanmates to celebrate his naming.
Myrtlebloom sat down beside her brother as Wolfblossom called out for the clan to gather around. She pressed against her brother when his name was called, today was the day he became a warrior, and she couldn't be prouder of him. She watched as Yewpaw made his way to the front and accepted the warrior's code. 'Mom would be so proud!' She purred to herself. They had grown so much and Myrtlebloom was sure Paledove was watching over them every step of the way.
"YEWSHADE!" Her excitement couldn't be contained anymore and Myrtlebloom ran over to her brother, basically crashing into him. Her smile was ear to ear basically and her eyes showed just how proud she was of her big brother. "I'm so proud of you and can't wait to see what a great warrior you will make."
