Ignite the flame (Cinder training)

Crocusfrost knew that even with this illness life couldn't stop. Cinderpaw was frail and ill, starved in the most important phase of development, Crocusfrost would be shocked if the young she-cat grew any taller than Mottlestar when she reached her 12th moon. Crocusfrost was conflicted even bringing the young she-cat out of their makeshift camp with the bloody coughs that shook the apprentice's body to the core, but if it was balanced right then maybe Crocus could help Cinder build the strength necessary to help battle this illness. She only hoped that it would help, it must. Crocusfrost had told Cinderpaw to get a meal in her before they went out, making sure to specify that Cinder eat as much as she could get down. It was now that Crocusfrost was patiently waiting for her apprentice, her paws tucked under her as she puffed out against the cold. Winter was hard, the cold was something that she was not as resilient to as her clanmates were, that was for certain, but at least Crocusfrost put off a lot of heat for her clanmates.... lucky for them.

Cinderpaw tried to eat as much as she could, really she did.  But no sooner had she eaten a full mouse did it all come out again in foul green mush laced with red. Her entire body shook, and finally she gave up and stumbled out to meet Crocusfrost, trying to hide the fact that she had failed the one task that she had been given. Guilt clawed at her insides, and she found herself unable to look in her mentor's eyes.

Crocusfrost cracked open an eye when the rank scent of bile wafted over her nose and a Cinderpaw who was obviously guilt-ridden seemed to look everywhere but Crocusfrost. She let the silence stretch between the two before she opened both her eyes and looked sternly at her ill apprentice. "You are not ready. You are too ill at no fault of your own." Her voice was stern, brokering no argument. "We are going to see Fawnshine and she is going to get you better before you can train. Training now would kill you." Crocusfrost got to her paws, resting her tail on her sickly apprentice as if she was going to run for it as she brought Cinderpaw to Fawnshine.

Cinderpaw's tail lowered even further when she heard her mentor's words. So she did notice after all. The small apprentice guiltily wiped her paws over her mouth as if to cleanse the smell of bile. She had been looking forward to training, but it seems she would have to spend yet another day in her nest with the medicine cats prodding her and feeding her all sorts of bitter leaves. She lowered her head, eyes on the ground as she let Crocusfrost lead her towards Fawnshine. She just wanted to do her mentor proud...
