Acornstem was a cat on a mission - while there was plenty of things that required her attention, mostly trying to figure out how to handle the food crisis, she knew she couldn't forget the most important thing...And that was making sure her Clanmates were doing alright. Most of her worries were on the apprentices - namely the...

She hadn't figured out what to refer to them as - they weren't exactly standard cats even if she would treat each as a loving Clan members but to refer to them as something else entirely seemed like...An insult - they weren't wild predators or...Or lesser cats because of their half-blood but had yet to find a term to think of them as that wouldn't make them sound beneath the others. Maybe she would have to ask them their option on it but... Well, there was no denying that they ate more than any of the other cats and with prey being a rarity for some odd reason the last moon or two...

She had to check in on them, see how they were doing and if there was anything she could do to help. Her paws carried her towards the apprentice's den, eyes sweeping for any sight for them - a few had been tasked to patrols with their mentors, others were likely doing training but... Ah! Her eyes glimmered at the sight of Wigglepaw, tail standing straight in excitement. Perfect, there were a few other things she wanted to speak to him about as it was. "Wigglepaw!" she called out as she approached, giving him a bright smile. "Can you spare a moment of your time?"

Sageroot, much to Wigglepaw's surprise, didn't show up that morning. Usually, she would be trying to get to know him, but perhaps his hostility toward her had finally paid off. He couldn't blame her for trying, of course, but he didn't think that he would ever like her for replacing Cloudychase. Not that this was a situation she was sure to be pleased with. He doubted that she wanted him as her apprentice, a cat who'd already been taught how to hunt and fight.

Grunting, Wigglepaw craned his neck to groom his unkempt fur, grimacing at the bits of dirt mushed into his pelt. His fur wasn't long by any means, but it certainly was thick and not grooming himself for a few days hadn't done him any favors. Now, it was tangled in several places - not quite matted but definitely heading in that direction. Another day and who knows, he might have been dealing with some serious matting. Huffing, Wigglepaw ran his tongue over a particularly troublesome spot.

It was rare that he got time to really sit by himself and think. Lately, he was always out hunting and when he wasn't doing that, he was trying to be helpful around the camp. It seemed like the same thing day in, day out and quite frankly...he was tired of it. The prey seemed to have vanished overnight and sitting here scrounging for scraps was driving him insane! He should be out there searching...doing...something! Just as the thought popped into his head, pawsteps caught his attention.

Pausing his grooming, the young tom lifted his head to see who it was, but it was probably just Sageroot again. To his surprise, however, it was none other than Thunderclan's deputy, Acornstem. Tipping his head to the side curiously, Wigglepaw stared at the she-cat, his tail lashing once to the side. "Oh. Greetings Acornstem. Are you needing something?" Since Cloudychase went missing, Wigglepaw had practiced forest speak even more than before...Cloudychase would have been proud.

At least...he hoped he would have been.

Acornstem smiled softly as she took a seat, tail curling around her paws as she dipped her head to the tom. "Nothing important - I just wanted to chat. Seeing how you and your siblings were doing," she explained, ears twitching as she studied the tom. It was clear he was having a bit of trouble keeping his fur straight but she wasn't surprised - it was different from a standard cat's fur it seemed and had to be harder to keep clean. It was a blessing that they weren't ShadowClan cats - they would never get the muck from their pelts if they had to live there...

"But I also wanted to see how you were doing," she said, her voice growing soft. "I know it can't be easy - having Cloudychase go missing. I also lost my mentor when I was an apprentice... Even to this day, we don't know what happened to him," she breathed, shaking her head before she put back on a smile. "So I just want to see how you were doing in general - see if there was anything I could do to help or if you had any concerns you wanted to voice."
