Whinchatpaw leapt at her again, and this time he knocked her from her paws, pinning her. "Good," Graywind smirked up at the tom, "As you train, you'll find that we Skyclanners have an easier time pinning down opponents. Probably from all the climbing we do." There was a touch of smugness to her voice. Spending so much time in the trees made for powerful leaping and the ability to cling to things was useful on more than just tree branches, their abilities were something to take pride in. Whinchatpaw's grip wasn't the most secure, but he'd improve. For now though, there was no need for Graywind to try and twist out of it. She'd be free soon enough.

Whinchatpaw beamed upon hearing Graywind's approval. He struggled to keep the warrior down, but took note of what she said. It was true, pinning an opponent was somewhat similar to launching onto a tree and holding onto a branch. Clearly he needed practice, for he only managed to keep himself on top for another heartbeat before the warrior escaped his grasp. Before the she-cat could get too far away however, Whinchatpaw chomped down on her shoulder.
"I think I'm starting to get the hang of this!" he exclaimed, quickly letting go before his teeth pierced skin. Though he was excited, Whinchatpaw was beginning to feel tired from exertion because he stepped back to catch his breath.
Graywind is no longer pinned. Whinchatpaw has used Snap, costing -7sp and dealing -6hp damage!

Whinchat's grip loosened, and Graywind wriggled out from his grasp with ease. The tom was quick to sink his teeth into her shoulder, though they did not break skin. "You think so?" Graywind moved past him with a sudden smirk and burst of energy, aiming to grab his tail and pull him backward.
Graywind used Tail Yank for -15 sp, dealing -8 damage. Whinchatpaw is stunned this turn.

Whinchatpaw let out a startled yelp as he felt his body jerked backwards.Stars- she's fast! The apprentice whirled around, surprise from the warrior's sudden attack making him unfocused and vulnerable. Light danced in his eyes as he followed the blur of grey fur. "I guess you were going easy on me, after all!" he said sheepishly, trying to gauge the she-cat's next move.

"I think you proved you could handle it." Graywind smirked, "And hey, it was only fair." She struck out with a sheathed paw once more. Their sparring would be over soon enough, but the tom seemed to have a good grasp on the basics and had picked up on things quickly as they sparred. Thornstalker was right in her teaching methods, she thought.
Graywind used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage.

Whinchatpaw's attentiveness became a weakness at that moment because he had focused on Graywind's words so much that he failed to see the incoming blow. Though he had a tall build, that also meant that he wasn't as sturdy. Upon impact, the grey and russet-furred tom was smacked down easily. "I think I'll stay down here for a bit. Catch my breath..." he huffed, sprawled on the ground.

Graywind chuckled softly at the apprentice's words upon his defeat. "What, done already?" She couldn't resist a little teasing, though her tone was lighthearted. "You did well, though. We may as well start heading back to camp... When you think you can get up."

When the warrior moved to leave, Whinchatpaw sat up and faltered for a second. Overcoming his brief moment of hesitation, he followed after the molly and called, "Hey, Graywind? Thanks. Thank you for teaching me. I appreciate it." The apprentice gave the warrior one last slightly sheepish smile before dashing off ahead.
