A blur of gold amidst the drab dullness of Twolegplace, Dawnfeather perched on a balcony, ears pricked and eyes narrowed in concentration. It was too early for Twolegs to be out and about, the perfect time to scour the outskirts of Twolegplace for those she hoped would someday return. The golden molly leapt lightly to a nearby wall, making her way across the moss-covered bricks. In the dawn light, the scattered grey flecks on her muzzle blended into the rest of her fur, but she was still filled with a youthful energy and determination.

Absorbed in her surroundings, Dawnfeather bounded down into an alley, following the faint scent of cat.

Valley watched the she-cat prance about the alley through narrowed eyes. As far as he was concerned, the territory around here belonged to him. These clan cats took every land there was in the forest and shredded the ears of anyone who dared to cross their so-called "borders". Did they not have enough land for themselves? He was hungry, and it just so happens that this she-cat over here was scaring away every prey in the area. His claws slid out, and with a soft hiss the tom lunged at the cream-point.

A flick of her ear- Dawnfeather half-turned, hopeful smile at the ready, but the cat that emerged from the shadows with a quick bound was not one she knew. The two went flying head over paws, landing with a pained grunt on the cracked pavement. Dawnfeather rolled away with a hiss, sharp claws nicking the tom’ ear and drawing blood- but the sight of the crimson on her claws failed to bring the familiar battle-rush. She felt empty; saddened, distant from the fight that she should probably be paying attention to. All she wanted was to see Beechaunt again, or Prima, or Muddy- was that too much to ask?

She wasn’t going to fight this poor tom; this was his territory, after all. She’d let him run her off; the listlessness sunk deep into her heart. What did it matter.

The she-cat didn't seem to want to fight at all, instead giving him a weak slap as if to ward him off. Valley wanted to swipe that indifferent look right off the molly's face. Did she really think that she could just walk here to his land, after her clanmates chased him off their land, and then not bother to even fight? Well, he wasn't going to stop just because this skinny wild cat thought that she owned the land. His claws dug into the she-cat's fur, aimed straight for the face. Let's see whether you'll still walk around like you own the place after your pretty face gets ruined!

This was a mistake.

The rogue’s claws curved towards her face, and that seething terrible visceral horror churned within her gut, fear like nothing else lancing through her veins. Dawnfeather pulled away, the tom’s attack hitting her chest instead, and lashed out blindly, kicking and yowling like her life depended on it- which it just might. Terrifyingly, her long sickness seemed to have weakened her limbs.

Valley's eyes on hardened as the she-cat didn't even bother trying to free herself. He would tear her fur out until she react. He would claw out both her eyes if that was what it took for this arrogant clan cat to understand that she couldn't just go wherever she liked and be treated like royalty.
