Oakkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Poppyshine

Poppyshine ascended the Willow Branch and settled her weight onto it. RiverClan had reached something of a steady equilibriam for the time being, and she could not be happier. It made her heart light and happy to see more and more of the kits leave the nursery and become apprentices. Their warriors would be worked a little thin, as she predicted that most warriors would end up training two apprentices at once for a while. She knew that their warriors could handle it though. RiverClan returning to prosperous numbers was on the horizon.

She announced, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!”

Poppyshine

As cats gathered, Poppyshine spotted the red fur she wanted amidst the group. She craned her head to catch his eye and then gestured with her paw for him to come forward. It was when he came forth that she continued the ceremony. “Oakkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to be apprenticed.” She had not spent much time with Oakkit, and instead only watched him grow from afar between her own duties. He seemed to be a quiet cat, but one who was ready to help the clan. “From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Oakpaw. Your mentor will be Hawkshriek. May his steadfast attitude and optimism show you the light of our territory.”

She stepped down from the branch so Oakpaw and Hawkshriek could finish. She knew that her adopted son was great with other cats, and she hoped that his sociability could help bring out some confidence in the newly-named apprentice.

Hawkshriek

Hawkshriek's ears perked upon hearing his name being called, eyes widening. Though it was not his first time taking an apprentice under his paws of guidance, he was still eager to get to know the young cat, gladly taking responsibility for becoming a mentor. Rising to his paws, he made his way over to Oakpaw to touch noses with him, offering a curt purr in greeting. "Nice to meet you, Oakpaw. We'll begin training tomorrow at sunhigh. Take your time to get used to the apprentice time and rest for today until then."
