It felt a little strange to be up on the tallbranch in preparation for a ceremony that wasn't for one of the apprentices, but Wolfblossom had gently insisted on covering for Birdstar while she was under the weather. Their leader needed to take care of herself too, and while Wolfblossom was no medicine cat, she had no problem bullying Birdstar into doing so. A warrior ceremony would lift spirits, and the apprentice in question was more than ready for it.
"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Wolfblossom called, then she sat, and waited.
The journey to Skyclan, the Great Shake, the disappearance of his mother, her return of her and her lover... all leading up to the attack at the camp and Birdstar being named leader. Part of him felt proud to have made it through all he had, put in hours in the trees, and more on the ground - yet another part was ashamed he didn't do more. had he done enough to deserve to be called a warrior? Fought enough? He thought back to Newtspring and his recollection of Briarthorn and Beechaunt. Maybe...staying under the radar wasn't so much a bad thing. He had come a long way for this.
He'd never forget the night of his joining, SkyClan patrol approached him as he passed out from dehydration, an angel woke him up and curled around him, taking him into her care - and he never looked back.
"Mmh it's a meeting," he hummed as he sat near the back of the crowd, his long, scruffy tail curling around him. "Prolly for one of the new kits."
Wolfblossom waited for the clan to gather, and it wasn't long before her pale gaze found Foxpaw's dark pelt. The general consensus was that this was probably for one of the kits to be named an apprentice, but not today. "Foxpaw, step forward." She called out, watching for the tom's reaction to what was undoubtedly a surprise. She'd wait for him to step forward before continuing.
"StarClan, I call upon you to look down on this apprentice. He’s trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in turn." Wolfblossom began, "Foxpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code- to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
His fur heated at the mention of his name, it took him a moment longer than it should've and someone nudged him forward to take a paw step toward his deputy. If he could blush - his face was a flame. This...this was it. The crowd opened up and he was able to make his journey to stand beneath Wolfblossom, looking up at her with bright determined eyes.
Once he had gotten over his initial surprise and momentary embarrassment, he was all confident and swagger as he jogged forward, tail high in the air. Coming to a halt he dipped his head before puffing out his chest, "Yes. I do." he meowed confidently. He'd been waiting for this.
Foxpaw took a moment to step forward, and Wolfblossom waited patiently. It wasn't for the deputy to do warrior ceremonies usually, but today was one of those times where she was doing just that. Foxpaw's answer was confident and sure, however, and Wolfblossom smiled down at him. "Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Foxpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Foxtrot. Starclan honors your determination and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full member of Skyclan."
Ceremony concluded, Wolfblossom leaped down from the tallbranch, padding toward the newly-named warrior. "You'll sit vigil tonight, as is custom. Congratulations, Foxtrot, I know you've worked hard for this." She mewed with a smile, backing away so that the rest of the clan could congratulate him.
