Creamsky was resting in the shade, his chin on folded paws as a soft sigh escaped him. His tail thumped the ground in a steady rhythm - he was bored, unsure of what fully to do. He hadn't been tasked with a patrol of any type for the day and he had chosen to given Juniperpaw the day off of training... He could go bother Lightningpaw, that was always an option. ...Maybe it was worth trying to share tongue with the other warriors - he was only really close to Wolfblossom out of them but talking to cats he didn't really know didn't appeal to him either. He flopped onto his side, letting out a dramatic sigh. He just...Wasn't sure what he wanted to do - a few options came to his head but he put them off for one reason or another.

Skyclan Camp
Leafbare was finally winding down. Rainpaw had spent most of the day flourishing in the weak sun that filtered through the trees, enjoying even the faint warmth it gave off. The snow was light underpaw, and the air, while still chilly, didn’t feel like it was trying to dig under his fur and turn his skin to ice. So, an incredible improvement, in Rainpaw’s opinion.
Between that, and Crookedpaw’s return, Rainpaw was in a unusually cheerful mood. He returned from a hunt feeling energized and, most surprising of all, sociable. He paused in the entrance to camp, looking around for a familiar face, which is where he spotted Creamsky. He hadn’t spent much time with the other tom since he became a warrior.
He had isolated a little after Crookedpaw went missing. Other than occasionally lurking near Creamsky and Lightningpaw, he mostly stuck to himself for a while. Juniperpaw’s arrival had changed that a little, but not by much. He figured it was about time he stopped neglecting his other friends. Because he and Creamsky were friends, or at least, Rainpaw would sure like to think so. (He never understood where that line was drawn. Maybe Creamsky didn’t think of him the same way.) Besides, whereas Crookedpaw had returned, there was still no sign of Blackbear. Creamsky could probably use a friend or two right then.
And so, after a moment of intense, contemplative staring, Rainpaw approached. “Hi.” He said softly, settling down in the shade beside Creamsky. "How have you been?”

Though she often worked hard, as she approached the end of her training Lightningpaw had become no stranger to the concept of slacking off. She focused on her training, of course, but general camp tasks that fell to apprentices weren't all that pressing with so many younger ones to handle them. Spotting both Creamsky and Rainpaw conversing nearby, she raced to where they were- and without a word of greeting, flopped herself over both of them.
"Hey, you two. Slow day, huh?"
As if the was the easiest, most natural thing in the world; because as far as she was concerned it was that simple.
"I guess slowing down's not so bad, though. Even if it gets a bit boring sometimes."

Crookedpaw had a lot more free time to himself since returning to SkyClan. It had not taken long to learn that Blackbear had disappeared after going to try and find Crookedpaw, something with disappointed and worried him. He wished that she hadn’t gone off to find him, and knew that it was hard on everyone in the clan, but especially Creamsky…
He returned from a brief outing on his own and spotted Rainpaw alongside Lightningpaw and Creamsky. Creamsky looked so tired and dejected. His stomach twisted and for a moment it felt like his guilt was eating him alive. He sucked in a breath and exhaled slowly. Guilt had been filling his mind a lot lately, and Crookedpaw had gotten better about shoving it down where he couldn’t see. Guilt or not, these were his friends, and Crookedpaw was not going to stay on his own as he had towards the end of his stay with the twoleg.
Crookedpaw approached and took his spot at Rainpaw’s side. “It’s been a while since we all were together,” he purred smoothly. “Feels like we should be doing something special.”

”Like what?” Juniperpaw interjected, sliding up behind Crookedpaw and Creamsky. Life in camp had been… strange since the catnapped cats came back. There were so many clanmates Juniperpaw had never seen before now, life before they left starting to fall back in place… life before Juniperpaw. The molly was starting to feel like she stuck out.
While Crookedpaw had come back among the throng, much to her brother’s joy, there was still one cat that was very much missing; Blackbear, Creamsky’s mother. Ever since the catnapped cats’ return, Juniperpaw’s mentor was noticeably more downtrodden than usual, and it hurt to see. Any friend of Rainpaw was a friend of hers, and comforting a friend was what Juniperpaw was best at. Crookedpaw and Lightningpaw being there was just an added bonus— the little ragdoll molly always wanted to befriend them, too. ”We can go hunting, all of us! Or just go on a nice walk around the territory— Creamsky will monitor us, and it’ll just be a patrol!”

Creamsky's ears twitched at the sound of pawsteps, glancing up to see Rainpaw approaching. Slowly he pushed himself upright, smiling as the tom settled down next to him. How was he...? A simple question, but the warrior wasn't sure if the answer was simple because he honestly didn't know. He shrugged, opening his mouth to try to give some response but stopped as suddenly Lightningpaw was with them and was sprawled out over both of them.
He glanced over his shoulder at his best friend, giving her an amused purr but before he could even think to respond to her - more pawsteps. Crookedpaw took his standard seat at Rainpaw's side, offering the idea of doing something special - Juniperpaw offering the idea of hunting or just a walk. The warrior didn't have a response as he quietly glanced around at the apprentices that had gathered around him. ...His friends.
For a few heartbeats, his ears slicked back. He honestly hadn't been expecting them to...Care? Or... He had rushed ahead, becoming a warrior far before them. While he knew Lightningpaw would never let him go, he hadn't expected the same of Rainpaw - o-or Crookedpaw. Surely they had each other, why bother with a warrior like him? Then Juniperpaw...She was his apprentice yet here she was - eager to be friends...Or at least, be friends with his friends which he would accept either way. He assumed they would think of him like Juniperpaw did when he had neglected her training - as being too good for them, to busy with his warrior duties because he...Had. He hadn't just neglected her - he had distanced himself from everybody.
Other than Lightningpaw, who of course wouldn't allow him to even try such a thing with her.
An amused purr escaped him at that thought, tilting his head as a soft laugh escaped him. "Well, I surely wouldn't mind a walk with all of you - it has been too long. But I also wouldn't mind just sitting here and talking so..." He gave a shrug of his shoulders, glancing around at his friend group. "Up to you guys I guess - I am fine with whatever."

Rainpaw’s focus had been on Creamsky, so he didn’t realize Lightningpaw’s approach until he was already being pressed down by the other apprentice’s weight. Startled, Rainpaw let out a positively ridiculous squeaky noise, going flat on his belly with his paws stretched out as Lightningpaw flopped onto him. He tilted his head up to look at her. His skin tingled from the points of contact, fur puffing slightly from the unexpected touch, but he didn’t mind too much, and after a moment, began to relax again. “You have squished me,” He informed her.
And then familiar pawsteps drew his attention, and a tiny smile appeared on Rainpaw’s face as Crookedpaw came over to join them, settling at his side. Rainpaw couldn’t perform his usual greetings with Lightning still on top of him, but he still murmured a soft, “Hello.” It had been a long time since the four of them were able to all spend time together. The last time they did, Creamsky was still alongside them in the apprentices' den. It made something in Rainpaw’s chest ache gently, but not in a bad way.
Another familiar voice, and Rainpaw twisted a little underneath Lightningpaw to catch sight of Juniperpaw. His tiny smile widened just a little further. He lifted his tail in greeting towards his sister, that warm ache settling further into his chest. “Hello. A walk does sound nice. A chance to stretch our legs.” He said softly. “But I will be content in everyone’s company either way, so I am with Creamsky; I have no real preference.” He shut his eyes for a moment and settled more comfortably beneath Lightningpaw.

Lightningpaw snorted a laugh at Rainpaw's response to her arrival. The squeaking sound was priceless- not unlike a startled mouse. "I think you'll live," she purred as hw spoke from underneath her. She waved her tail in greeting to Crookedpaw and Juniperpaw as they joined the little group, considering their suggestions. "Yeah, I don't think I'd mind either way. It's a nice day, y'know? Better with friends, but it doesn't really matter what we do."
She wasn't the type to stress or to focus too much on reminiscing, but something about this felt right in a way that things hadn't for a while. A realization struck like her namesake, settling over her like soft rainfall.
This is what I've been waiting for.
Moments like this, rare and precious as they seemed to have become. Time they could spend all together.

Crookedpaw smiled at Rainpaw and Lightningpaw, finding amusement in their exchanges. He really did miss his group of friends. Being together with them now put him at ease. It felt normal, almost, and like old times. They were older and larger—and one of them even had his warrior name—but they were still a close band of friends. At least some things stayed the same-
A prickle ran down Crookedpaw’s back at the sudden arrival of someone new. He blinked a couple of times and looked at the new she-cat that joined the group. He put on his charming smile when his mind found her name amidst his surprised clutter. “Hello Juniperpaw. I’m glad you could join us.” Rainpaw had told him a little bit about the she-cat that had come to join SkyClan. It was…odd. Rainpaw had this new adopted sibling, who was nearing getting her own warrior name. It was something entirely new, like she always had been there. He hadn’t been gone that long and yet…
He blinked a couple of times and kept himself from physically shaking the thought from his head. “With so many of us, a patrol for prey would be difficult unless we split up. The prey would hear us coming even if we tried to keep quiet. I think it’s better to just do a walk, and maybe refresh the scent lines.” And…he didn’t want to embarrass himself further amongst his fellow apprentices with how poorly he hunted after so much time away from the forest.

Juniperpaw lowered her head in curtsy towards Crookedpaw, giving him her best gracious smile before turning to acknowledge Lightningpaw and Rainpaw. She was a far more familiar with the latter two— and Creamsky of course— with them being staples in her life since she joined SkyClan. Crookedpaw, however… Crookedpaw was something new. Not bad new, of course, Crookedpaw was delightful, Juniperpaw had just… never quite expected him home. She would never in a million years tell Rainpaw any of that, but it was true; as the stories mounted on about her brother and his lost best friend, and as the days turned into moons, Juniperpaw had started to worry that Rainpaw would waste away in the apprentice den waiting for a cat that would never return. She felt silly now. She really shouldn't have doubted Rainpaw when he asserted Crookedpaw would find his way back home.
The tuxedo tom seemed a little cagier around Juniperpaw than she would like, but she couldn’t blame him for it. She had wormed her way into clan life while he was away, and she couldn’t begin to imagine how she would feel if she came back from being missing to find her best friend had gained a sister out of the blue. She just hoped Crookedpaw would open up to her some more; she wanted to make due on that promise to Rainpaw all those moons ago when she said she would love to be friends with him.
At Crookedpaw’s suggestion, Juniperpaw gave an enthusiastic nod. ”That sounds like a good plan! It’ll help you re-familiarize yourself with the territory too, Crookedpaw, I know it’s been a while.” She wasn’t quite sure if that was rude to say or not. She really hoped it wasn’t. ”So c’mon everyone, get up! Let’s go!”

Creamsky stared at the group around him with a soft smile, a purr of amusement escaping him in the end, the votes swayed towards a simple walk. "Well then, the votes had been cast - a walk it is. Thought..." he meowed, before he glanced at Juniperpaw with a bemused expression as the she-cat spoke. "'Get up,' you say, as if its that easy," he sighed, thought there was fondness and warmth in his tone, dipping his head to where Lightningpaw was sprawled over both him and Rainpaw. "You don't have another cat using you as a bed. Seems me and Rainpaw here are stuck for the moment - I'm not wiggling myself free at least."

Rainpaw's eyes shifted towards his sister and best friend. He could tell there was a little bit of tension there, but he couldn't identify it. He bit his lip a little at Juniperpaw's reminder of Crookedpaw's absence. He looked towards Crookedpaw again, and as best he could while still thoroughly trapped, flicked his tail over Crookedpaw's in a gesture of preemptive reassurance.
Rainpaw looked towards Creamsky, suddenly feeling deeply grateful for the playful energy Creamsky recaptured. They could easily get free between the two of them. Lightning wasn’t all that much bigger than Rainpaw, after all. But then he smiled a little bit, because where was the fun in that? Maybe between him, Creamsky, and Lightningpaw, they would get the other two laughing, and that strange tension would evaporate.
Splaying his limbs out further, he nodded a lazy agreement to Creamsky’s statement. “It is quite the predicament.” He agreed, voice completely flat as always, but mischief wrinkling his nose. “We are entirely stuck. It is truly unfortunate that we are being held hostage in this manner.” He cracked open one eye to look up at Lightningpaw, and he impulsively stuck his tongue out at her.

"What, not strong enough to stand up?" Lightningpaw teased, rolling off of them as easily as she had laid herself atop the pair in the first place. "Fine, then I suppose it's up to me to free the two of you." She glanced back at them, having dashed slightly ahead; eyes sparkling in the sunlight. "A walk sounds pretty nice, all things considered. So, let's go! Er- if everyone's ready, anyway."

”I’m ready!” Juniperpaw meowed, giving her fur a good shake before joining Lightningpaw up onto her feet. ”Newleaf is starting to set in, you know— there are so many places that we could take a walk in! Where do you all want to go?”
Juniperpaw turned tail to take a few steps towards the entrance of camp, but turned back around once she didn’t hear any following pawsteps. ”Come on now, lazy bones, all of you! Let’s go! I’m sure we’ll think of something while we walk!”

Crookedpaw smiled at the group as Lightningpaw and Juniperpaw finally got back up. Juniperpaw was quick to scurry off, and he snorted when she turned back to them. “We are on our way, you mustn’t bustle quite so quickly while we have cats that are still recovering.” He leaned down to offer an encouraging nudge to Rainpaw to get him to his feet, and let Lightningpaw assist Creamsky in the same way.
When Rainpaw was up to his feet, Crookedpaw lifted his chin and finally walked after Juniperpaw. “You must remember just how elderly we are compared to your brisk, young bones.”
