Birdstar
The air was getting warmer, new-leaf starting to creep around the corner. It was like the return of every Clans' missing had heralded in the warmer season. There were patches of snow still clinging stubbornly, but most of it had melted, or at least started to. Birdstar let out a deep breath through her nose. The twoleg threat as gone, and the forest was crawling its way back to normalcy... and ceremonies always seemed to come at a timely manner, just the right time to be either celebration or morale boost. This time, celebration. Leaping to her perch, Birdstar called out, "Let all cats old enough to climb the trees, gather below Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!"

Firepaw dropped a rogue branch he was carrying to the defense pile and approached the Tallbranch. While the camp had been mostly repaired, the somewhat moat around camp could always use more items to make a racket if someone stepped on them. Regardless of what he was doing, the large tom wasted no time finding an appropriate spot and sitting down. It was exciting, knowing that someday soon he would become a warrior, become something that he could be proud of. Or at the very least, not need to worry about his name changing again, and he could hang out with Smokestep far more often.

Birdstar
The Clan gathered quickly below her, and Birdstar watched as Firepaw abandoned his branch and joined the growing crowd. She kept her eyes on him for a bit, took a second to scan over the other faces present, then returned to his. "Firepaw, step forward." Her tail waved in unison with her words to beckon him closer. When he'd done so, Birdstar went on, "StarClan, I call upon you to look down on this apprentice. He's trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in turn. Firepaw," her head tipped slightly to the side; she expected his response to be one of almost-hesitancy, but she was excited to hear for herself. "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Firepaw's jaw nearly dropped when he was called to step forward. Of course, he did so, maybe a little too fast, but he did it. The tom was nervous too, very nervous. The whole clan's ears were on him, he hated it. Mustering up all his courage, he said loudly, "I do." Having had to squeeze his eyes shut to forget about all the cats around him, Firepaw opened them again, looking at Birdstar with an expression of fear and excitement. He was ready to become a warrior, that was never in question. The fear of others, though, was beginning to get to him again.

Birdstar
Birdstar didn't miss the way his eyes closed when he spoke, shutting out the crowd around him. It didn't keep him from answering though, simple words ringing with surprising clarity. His attention found her quickly when he dared to look again, and Birdstar dipped her head in an understanding, approving nod. "Then from this day on, you will be known to all as Firepool. SkyClan honors your dedication and ambition." Leaping to the ground, Birdstar crossed the small distance to touch her nose to the newly-named warrior's head. "Good job, Firepool," she murmured, genuine pride in her voice. Leaning back, she added mirthfully, "And enjoy your vigil," before stepping back to join the crowd in cheering his new name.

Firepool.
He liked it. It felt... like him. Firepool watched as Birdstar came closer, touching her nose to his. He did the same, frozen to his place. It was strange, to know that he was a warrior. To hear Birdstar's words say good job, with real, true pride. Then of course a reminder of his vigil. That was the part he dreaded the least. Silence, alone, watching out for his clan. It was a dream come true.
Before she could pad away, he murmured, "Thank you, for everything." Birdstar had given him advice, something to help him. Firepool had few friends and less family. It was nice for a cat to treat him with such... friendliness, he supposed. With that, he continued sitting, waiting for the crowd to disperse further before preparing himself for his vigil.

Smokestep had made a habit of attending every ceremony she could, and this time was no different. The gray tabby she-cat was sitting near the front of the crowd, but off to the side, and as Firepaw was called forward, she smiled brightly. Her friend was getting his warrior name! How exciting!
When he was named, Smokestep raised her voices with the others in the crowd to call out, "Firepool! Firepool!" in congratulations, and as Birdstar stepped away after her own congratulations, Smokestep bounded forward, waving her tail. "Firepool! That's such a great name," she said breathlessly, excited. "You're a warrior now! Congratulations!"
