Sagekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

Despite the harsh weather and the looming threats, ShadowClan was blessed with kits; and those kits were once more ready to begin their apprenticeships. Leopardsun stood on the ground, surveying her Clanmates and keeping an eye out for one cat in particular.

Sagekit fluffed out his pale tabby fur; the cold certainty was getting worse. His green eyes wandered the camp for a moment. Who would be his mentor? Did they already know? Hearing Leopardsun's summons quickly snapped him out of his thoughts. The tom took a deep breath and stepped forward, under the light of the moon high above.

"Sagekit-" she began, only to find that the kit in question had already stepped forward. She laughed, feeling more free to do so within the sanctuary of ShadowClan's camp than in all the time they had spent mere steps from WindClan at Highstones.

The act of ceremony had become routine after a while, but it wasn't ever dull; the excitement and enthusiasm of kits kept things interesting enough for Leopardsun, as did her own desire to see each one of them succeed. Their impatience was charming, after all- who couldn't remember that sense of restlessness, of knowing that if not today then soon?

"Well, I suppose we'll have to change things up a bit, seeing that you were a few steps ahead of me today," she teased. "Sagekit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Sagepaw. Your mentor will be Crowspirit- I trust she will pass her kindness and her selflessness onto you."

sagepaw took a deep breath; it was over. Looking around, he quickly caught sight of the light tabby who was now his mentor. Trotting up to Crowspirit, he raised his tail in greeting.
