The first few steps are always the hardest(OPEN)

The little tom, his fur still soft with kitten fluff, trotted over the clearing, his tabby tail sticking up in the air behind him. His yellow eyes scanned the camp in wonder; he had never seen a place so big before. yes, it was messy and in ruins, but Sagekit didn't know that yet. as far as he was concerned, it was a beautiful place. Too busy watching a bird-- he didn't know what kind-- fly over head, he didn't notice a cat in front of him until he collided head-first into a warm and fluffy pelt.

“Whoah, watch where you’re going, little guy!” a high, boyish voice called out. Sunpaw was amused by the little one’s antics. Kits were so delightfully dumb in their first moons, so very easily distracted by every little thing. The tall skinny apprentice purred in amusement, gently nudging the little fuzzball with a paw. “I’m Sunpaw, who might you be?”

Sagekit tumbled away from the taller apprentice. "My name's Sagekit," He mewed "Sorry for bumping into you." The apprentice didn't look like a Shadowclan cat, with his wiry build and pale ginger-brown fur. He had the usual marsh and pine scent of any other Shadowclan cat, but underneath it all was the faintest whiff of the wind. And yet, here he was.  

"Who are you?" He asked, curiosity getting the better of him.

Sunpaw puffed up a little. “Only ShadowClan’s best apprentice,” he boasted. “My mentor is Sablestrike, one of ShadowClan’s fiercest warriors!”

Shadowclan's best apprentice...? Woah.

Sagekit couldn't help being impressed by the tom's confidence. But does having the fiercest warrior as a mentor equals to having the best mentor? And does having a good mentor mean that the apprentice is also good? In that case, shouldn't the leader's apprentice be the best apprentice? a dozen questions ran through his mind, but he didn't voice any of them.

"Cool."
