Webshadow
The sun had risen, golden dawn light spilling over the Highstones' craggy features as the last blues of nighttime melted away. Blessed day. Lucky me. If he were being honest, Webshadow did not think he would see this sunrise. The night previous had been long and sleepless; exhaustion ate at his muscles, holding his body in place except for the weak thump of his tail, and pain had enveloped him. Even where his body should not hurt, where he had not incurred wounds or suffered stiff joints, it simply did. The simple act of breathing proved troublesome. He wondered if he would see dusk, or even sunhigh.
And yet, though laying down itself pained him, he felt awake. It was not quite energy that coursed through his muscles, though that was all Webshadow could think to describe it as. He could no longer will himself to sit up any longer, and yet he felt awake. He knew, if he were capable of getting to his paws, he would stumble long before he found his stride; and yet, he wanted to race the rest of the way down the slope to Highstones, run over WindClan's moors or find his way to that barn looming in the distance. So much to do. So little time. His tail rose and fell a little quicker and, though still weak, hit the ground just a bit harder.
His attention had been focused singularly on the rising sun, and he had not noticed the approach of pawsteps until they were nearly atop his head. Slowly, his eye lowered from the dawn, and Webshadow was pleasantly surprised to find Swiftheart had come to join him, fresh-kill dangling between her jaws. Though he did not say anything, a tired smile warmed his wasting features, and his eye closed fondly in acknowledgement of her presence.

Swiftheart gave a gently and quiet purr setting the fresh kill down for him. "I thought you might be hungry... and I wanted to keep you company too" she mewed quietly sitting beside him to enjoy a breakfast.
Webshadow's tired and exhausted movements did not go unnoticed to her. She knew that all this running from temporary camp to temporary camp had been hard on all of them, yet alone an elder who had served his clan so well and so long. The quite thumping and slowing of his tail made her worry a bit although she did her best to hide it. He had been a long time friend of hers and had always been there for her since even her kithood days. Alot of the warriors that he had grown up with such as Mistyfalcon (her father) were gone now, and Batglow, and Flint.
She had seen the same look that each of those elders had before they passed as well and now Webshadow had it too. She didnt want to belive it, tried to ignore it even hoping that somehow that would make the reality go away.
He smiled a little up at her and she returned it happily. Worrying about something that had not even come to pass would not help her and besides, anyone would be tired after all they had been through. He just needed enough support and he could get through this she belived. And she was more than happy to do whatever she could to see that through. After all, he had done so much to help her and his clan.
She remembered when he helped rebuild the nursery with her, remembered the fun times of them doing little puzzle games that Froststar had shown him. She was so sorry that he had lost his loved one, losing a mate was so difficult she knew. She hoped that she had been there enough for him during that but second guessed if she had.
She blinked away the memories refocusing on the present.
"Windclan and us are working together a bit more now, I'm supposed to go on an herb hunt soon with their medicine cat... Bat... something. Of all the clans we had to land next to, I guess Windclan is the best one." she purred in her usual optimistic and energetic self.
"hmm, is there anything I could get for ya when im out and about?" she asked with a little tilt of her head grinning at her friend.

The scent of prey strengthened in his nostrils when Swiftheart dropped the kill she'd brought to him. The scent was equally tantalizing and nauseating– the idea of eating made Webshadow's stomach turn. To sit up, to bite, tear, chew, swallow- he pressed his head a little harder against the rocks. Nauseating. And yet, his stomach growled quietly in response to it. How long had it been since he'd had a proper meal? He wondered...
With effort, the tabby's eye opened. Cloudy as it was, his gaze landed on Swiftheart with surprising focus. There was a sadness to her; he could see it in her, could feel it clinging to the air around her pelt. A rasping huff passed between his teeth. Oh, this was the hard part. It was not the pain and the weariness that weighed down his bones, not the loss that plagued his heart. At least when many of the cats he cared for died, he had not been there to see it. Webshadow had only ever gotten the privilege of hearing it second-paw; a blessing in some ways, curse in others. But it had hurt immensely, even without sitting beside their deathnest. He could only imagine how Swiftheart felt, looking down at him. His heart ached more, and he wished that this could be easy and quiet, for the both of them.
After a long stretch of quiet, Webshadow managed, "No, Swiftheart, I do not think so." He again feared he would not see sunhigh. Were those thoughts worth sharing? He did not want to disturb her, give her preemptive grief to sit with on patrol. Webshadow fought with every muscle to sit upright so he could smile at her. His trembling shoulders managed to lift him a whisker off the ground before he tilted back downwards again, grimacing and panting. Between labored breaths, "I do not... need anything. There are... I am sure there are... Clanmates that need your help more. I worry it would be wasted energy on me, Swiftheart."

Swiftheart had to tilt her ears forward to hear his raspy words. She purred softly nodding a little. She pushed the prey aside out of the way: he had looked so nauseating from it. The last thing that anyone would want on an upset tummy was the smell of food.
His words were heavy and slow. She wrapped her tail around her front paws staying by his side. He had tried to get up but fell back down almost immediately afterwards.
"shh shh shh shhh she purred quietly settling down next to him and giving him a gentle hug.
"rest now, you dont have to do anything more" she whispered into his ear.
She gently groomed at his fur in a gentle queen like manor getting the bits that stuck up laid back down and proper looking.
She nuzzled into his fur a little to try and keep him somewhat warmer from the cold winds that plauged highstones, this wasnt fair for him. To be so far from home like this. Not like this...
The only thing she could try and do now was to be there for him and give whatever little comfort she could.
His immediate family, Froststar, Ratkit and Stonekit were all gone, waiting for him no doubt in starclan. She would not leave his side though, even if he hadnt requested anything else this was the least she could do, just be there for him one last time.
She fought back tears and managed to succeed for once as well, it wasnt fair for him to have that on top of all this as well.
What could she say to that? It slowly dawned on her that anything she did say might be the last thing she got to say to him in this lifetime. They might meet again in dreams or in another life maybe but this chapter was ending all too quickly.
"Thank you Webshadow... for everything, you have always been there for me, you have been an amazing friend." the words were getting caught up in her throat a little.
"I love you" she said quietly
(Note: Not like a love you in a mate sense, that was reserved for Duskflight and Ratrunner, she means like differently than that obviously but there isnt a word to fully describe it:
She wished they had more time together, wished that he would be able to see their home get rebuilt and get to see the marshlands one last time, but it was not looking to be that way.
She figured that of all the ways to go, maybe this one was not so bad, to have a warm nest and friends nearby... better than what some got in this forest of being cold and alone and bleeding out on some battle field... she tried to tell herself that but it didnt make it any easier or the pain any less sharp.
She wrapped her tail around him protectively, in a similar manor a queen might around their bundle of kits. She hummed a quiet and sweet lullaby that was common and well known in shadowclan, something he would recognize maybe from his kithood. But she also added some lyrics from a well known Riverclan lullaby as well to form a nice mixture of the two, a tribute to his origins and a reminder that no matter where he had come from he was loved and that he belonged here. She hoped that he was comfortable at least... or as much as one could be with this

HAHAHAH so I asked https://chat.openai.com/chat to make me a lulliby about shadowclan and it spat out this sick thing in like 2 seconds and its better than anything I coulda come up with in like a week so here is the lulliby she sorta sang to him
