Creampaw hadn't moved from his spot for nearly the entire day - his eyes set off on the horizon. His ears were perked, gaze scanning for the familiar large shape of his mother stepping from the undergrowth. His mind was repeating the last conversation he had with her - of her explaining her plan to find Crookedpaw...And her offer for him to join her. Even now, he felt confused by it - how could she leave the Clan? How could he...? He had come to the conclusion that it was a test - she had always pressed forward how important their loyalty to Birdchaser was so how could she ask him to walk away from that for even a bit? He had declined - he was an apprentice, he had to focus on his training and...And even if it was real he didn't like the idea of leaving Lightningpaw behind and...
It had to be a test, right? His...Blackbear wouldn't just leave him, even if he did decline to go with...Would she?
But a two sunrises had passed since he had last seen her - she was prone for her long walks so it hadn't been a point of concern until the first full day had come and gone. Now he waited in hope that she would return, that she wouldn't have... If she left, would she come back? She had said she would return with Crookedpaw but he didn't...
What if she never found Crookedpaw? What if something happened to her? What if - what if she just...Decided she was better off without him?
His ears slicked back as that thought crossed his mind, thought his expression itself didn't change as he continued to stare off towards the horizon.

Where Creampaw was, Lightningpaw usually wasn't too far away. Today wasn't one of the rare exceptions: the golden-furred apprentice's usual enthusiasm was somewhat dulled, with a great deal of her energy focused on her friend. She'd gone back and forth and all around by now, but he hadn't moved once; she could only guess at the why. But she didn't like that the distant stare in his eyes wasn't going away, and she didn't really know what she was supposed to do to help.
Well. There was one thing, but...
Sighing deeply at the thought of staying still for more than a split second, she settled near him. Not quite next to him, but close enough to make her presence known. If he didn't want to talk, she wasn't going to make him.
Shifting constantly to make herself comfortable, she nudged him. "Hey."

There wasn't a single bone in Kit's body that allowed him to mope. This wasn't his first rodeo with his mother leaving him. No. At this point he was beginning to expect it. Was this a common clan thing? For mother's to leave their kits behind? he guessed not, considering that the last time his mother left him, Kit-er-Foxpaw ran away from home in search of a pipe dream. When it turned out to be true, he put all of his faith into the clans and especially Skyclan. Kit knew how Creampaw felt. He empathized. Truly. At least he tried to.
The tom pranced over to the two, tail held high in the air, "How's it hangin'." he mewed, sitting down on the other side of Creampaw, offering a warm slanted smile.

Rainpaw wasn’t very good with emotions, but even he could see that Creampaw was upset about Blackbear leaving. He couldn’t say he was necessarily upset about the same, because he was grateful that Blackbear was looking for his friend. But he could easily see why Creampaw was upset. His mother didn’t leave him, the twolegs took him from her, but the separation still hurt. He has no idea what he’d do if Birdchaser left, even if it was for something important. And Crookedpaw’s absence still hurt constantly, like a thorn in his paw that he couldn’t get out.
He hesitated on the edge of the growing group near Creampaw, uncertain if he would be welcome. He shuffled from paw to paw, flexing his claws anxiously. He did not know Creampaw particularly well, but he felt like he should say or do something. He shuffled closer until he was sitting next to Lightningpaw. “Hello.” He spoke up after a moment of just sitting there.

Creampaw's ears barely twitched as Lightningpaw approached and took a seat near him - thought nothing drew his gaze away until her shoulder brushed his and he swayed slightly. It caused him to blink, drawing him back from the distance horizon he had been studying. His head turned a little to look at her, whiskers twitching as he thought perhaps to say something - but then another presence at his other side caused him to pause as a new voice spoke. Then a third.
His denmates. He blinked in surprise as he twisted his head around to look at Lightningpaw, Foxpaw and Rainpaw. They were all... Checking on him? His gaze fell back towards the horizon, still hoping that Blackbear would come grumbling into camp like she always did but after a few heartbeats, his ears slicked back and he turned his gaze back onto his denmates. "...Hey," he responded weakly, before he fell silent. He...Wasn't sure what else to say.
"...I don't know if I'm good company, at the moment," he admitted softly, head dipping as he stared at his paws. Lightningpaw was often so full of energy - she wouldn't want to hang out with him while he was like this and it...He couldn't be cheerful, he couldn't be happy. Why would the other apprentices want to sit with him either? It was better to be straight with them - they wouldn't gain anything from this. He was just going to be a sad bore for...
For who knew how long - he didn't know how to make his heart stop hurting. He didn't know how to cope with this, he didn't...

"Hey, you're always good company!" Lightningpaw replied, nudging his shoulder. "Even when you're sad, or scared, or whatever else. 'Sides, we're in this together. Always! So I'm not going anywhere."
She looked around to the other apprentices with an easy smile before turning her attention back to Creampaw. "We're all SkyClan, yeah? We gotta look out for each other! That means no one's left alone, alright? We'll stick together, or at least I'll stick with you. Can't speak for the rest, but- you can't shake me off, y'know?"

Foxpaw waved his tail in greeting to Rainpaw as the apprentice approached, he relaxed his sitting position and uncurled his tail from around his paws to hopefully make the tom feel less anxious if he were to show that they were just hanging around. Foxpaw made sure his smile stayed on his maw, knowing his resting face could be quite abrasive, "Like sap." he purred as Lightning suggested they stick together. He didn't have much of a real family in Skyclan besides Dawnfeather, and with her missing, he made it his mission to make the entire clan his family.
