Checking the Surroundings [for Ice]

Shrikestar was okay with staying at the Highstones. It was still in full view of the sky, just like at WindClan. They were even closer to their ancestors now, though what StarClan would say about this, he wasn't sure. Perhaps he should find a chance to speak with them. For now, though, he needed to do some patrolling. There wasn't nearly enough territory for everyone to be patrolling or hunting, so there were plenty of cats with nothing to do but lie around. This was in both WindClan and ShadowClan. He couldn't just sit there, though. It didn't feel right. So he stood up and stretched his legs, preparing to go out and do something, anything. Perhaps he could check for traps, or check on the twoleg presence in the nearby area.

Laying peacefully near the freshkill pile, his usual place of rest, Fuzzpaw lifted his gaze but didn't move a muscle as he watched his adopted father, Shrikestar, look around as if looking for something to do. 'Don't come over here... don't come over here...' the stout apprentice prayed to himself silently. Closing his eye again, he let out a deep breath. Maybe if he pretended like he was asleep, he wouldn't be bothered...

Unfortunately for Fuzzpaw, Shrikestar's gaze fell upon him. Honestly, the apprentice could use some exercise. He was a good apprentice, but sometimes... Ahh, never mind. Shrikestar padded over to the apprentice, who was clearly pretending to be asleep. "Fuzzpaw," the leader murmured, standing over the rotund apprentice. "Will you accompany me out of camp? I would like to check on how far the twolegs have gotten, and we should check for traps as well."

Great Silverpelt, of course the leader would want to go out of camp and check for traps, what had he been expecting? Letting out a sigh, Fuzzpaw pushed himself up and gave his dark, fuzzy pelt a shake. Well, his almost-nap had been nice while it lasted, but it wasn't like he was going to be able to get out of this, seeing as though it was Shrikestar of all cats.

"Fine," he huffed as he stood up. Hopefully they could get this over with and be back by the time the warriors returned with prey.

Shrikestar chuckled under his breath, not missing the tone of the apprentice's words. Things would surely change when he was a warrior, right? The two of them left the makeshift camp, heading out further past Highstones and to the edges of the territories. "It's important to keep the clan safe," Shrikestar reminded the apprentice, his eyes peeled for anything resembling a trap or a twoleg. "We keep each other safe and honest, after all."

Following behind Shrikestar and doing his best to keep up with the leader's steady pace, Fuzzpaw huffed a bit, but quickly reminded himself to breath. He could do this, he just needed to keep his breathing steady and not mess up his steps. Perking his ears as the leader began to speak, he rolled his eyes. He wasn't sure if Shrikestar was just speaking to him in general or if his words were meant specifically for him, but either way, the apprentice didn't particularly care much about what was said as far as the safety of the clan. What he did care about though, was how stupid Twolegs were, with their traps and big naked paws... and to top it off, they always leave their awful stench everywhere they step. "If those dumb Twolegs hadn't ruined things, we'd all be able to take more naps..." the fuzzy apprentice sighed as they pressed onwards.
