【Forestbreeze】
《OOC》This takes place directly after this topic. The timeline is wonky with this these topics due to me having to take a break from WCC for a while and just recently returning. Just know that the first topic was bumped up to be set in the current time so there would be no need to worry about all the mix-ups that rank-ups and other changes that have happened may bring. So any 'paws that have become a warrior / any kits that have become a 'paw in between the dates of the two topics will be using their current ranks! Thank you for taking the time to read this! <3
❒ He thought it to be impossible for breathing to become a chore but here he was. Everything hurt, everything burned. His eyes were drooping from the utter fatigue he was blanketed with. Blood loss was certainly the major culprit. The whole world was muffled and blurred. Every limping step was agony but he kept going. The firm, warm presence of Iceheart that was taking on most of his weight at this point was the only thing that kept him fully conscious. Forestbreeze just wanted to slip into the soothing dark abyss of sleep but she desperately kept him awake, kept him focused. She wasn't fairing any better herself but out of the two of them, she still had the most energy and strength left to haul them both back to camp. However, he could feel that strength draining with every step and it made his anxiety rise. The only consolation he had was that they were almost home. He could see the camp's entrance just ahead, albeit the blurred form of it. They could get the help they so desperately needed. They just needed to stubbornly push to the finish line.
❒ Relief flooded the trembling warrior as they finally stepped through the entrance. The camp never looked more beautiful and inviting than it had at that moment. He pressed his furrowed face into Iceheart's. "We m-made it," he rasped softly, glassy amber eyes taking in the sights. He staggered a bit while he tried to sit down. He couldn't hold himself upright anymore. He was hoping to rest even the smallest amount so his limbs could function somewhat in case he needed to move later. At least they were safe to rest now. He huffed and panted as he tightly closed his eyes before blinking them open. It took an effort to remain coherent but he was stubborn. He won't let the darkness win.
❒ Forest cleared his throat, wincing when it felt ached. He wanted to call out to the medicine cats but he couldn't. The dryness of his mouth didn't help either. He hated feeling so helpless. His head was swimming but he wondered if some of his clanmates had noticed the heavily injured duo entering the camp. Perhaps the medicine cats were already on the way? He sure hoped so.

Shadowclan Camp
Honeylight was just sitting beside the warrior den, sleepy from the day's patrols and activities and half considering going to bed. He felt content and warm, but something was keeping him from going to bed. Just a twinge of anxiety lingering in the pit of his stomach.
The smell of blood hitting him even before the two lumbering forms shadowed the entrance of camp answered the question as to why he felt that way. Bolting up right, turning his attention to the entrance, Honeylight felt his blood run cold at the sight that greeted him. Iceheart and Forestbreeze, the two most important cats in his life, coated in blood and looking half dead.
Honeylight didn’t even have the chance to register what he saw before his paws were moving. “Ice! Forest!” He choked out, racing to Forestbreeze’s other side and moving to take on his weight so Iceheart could rest. Over his shoulder, he quickly called, “Fuzzybelly! Burdockpaw!” Before he even finished talking, his attention was returned to his family. He licked anxiously at the blood on the top of Forestbreeze’s head. “What happened? Can you both hear me?” He asked, voice tight with fear as he began leading them towards the medicine den. Tears of panic pricked the corner of his eyes. Seeing these two like this was like a nightmare come true.

In the medicine den, Snowpaw was roused from a sound sleep by shouting. Struggling to her feet, she limped to the entrance. Three warriors were approaching, two of them clearly badly injured. She didn’t know any of them, but she knew this was bad. “Fuzzybelly! Burdockpaw!” she yowled, lending a voice. “Two cats are hurt!” That was all the energy she had. The black-and-white she-cat flopped hard back into her nest.

StarClan, could Burdockpaw ever take a second to herself now? She wasn't used to the constant needing of her. Before becoming a medicine cat, she had all the time in the world. Now she could hardly breathe without her name being called out for one thing or another. But... This sounded different than a torn claw or thorn or scratch. Iceheart's name was called out, and a stone dropped in her stomach. Fuzzybelly had left the den to do something, she had no idea where he was so right now, she was the only medicine cat adjacent to respond... She didn't know what she'd be seeing.
Shoving past Snowpaw, which could have probably been done softer but wasn't enough to knock the cat over, Burdockpaw exited the den with what she knew to be the basic care she could provide. Cobwebs and marigold. The large and scarred apprentice was there in seconds time. Her multi-colored gaze ran over the two injured cats, a lump in her throat seeing Iceheart in that state. When she was a warrior, she thought just maybe she'd have a chance with her... But seeing her with Forestbreeze she knew that she never had a chance. But she needed to push that aside- medicince cats don't get feelings, and she was good at not having feelings.
"Please give me room, Honey...light. Iceheart, Forestbreeze, lay down." Her chilled and emotionless voice gave the instructions as she set down the herbs. Forestbreeze was worst off, so she turned to him to stop his bleeding. She glanced at the warrior that had met them at the camp. "Honeylight, chew this marigold. Don't swallow. I need pulp." She glanced around, and called out in a louder voice. "Someone get me leaves and more cobwebs and someone else find Fuzzybelly!" Truth be told, Burdockpaw knew very little more than the basics at this point, to triage. She'd need Fuzzybelly to tell her what to do next.

Iceheart’s feet staggered as she walked into camp. One of her legs was still numb, although she couldn’t tell if it was just a sprain or if it was truly broken. She had no focus for that, as all of her attention went to keeping Forestbreeze on his feet. The trek back from the territory to camp felt like it took hours, although Iceheart was not sure how long they were actually walking. Forestbreeze thankfully stayed awake the whole way there. Iceheart wasn’t sure she would be able to drag him back to camp if he had passed out, given their size difference and her own injuries.
She looked up with fatigued eyes when Honeylight met her. She blinked slowly. His voice sounded faraway, even as she saw him right in front of her. She looked back to Forestbreeze and carefully helped him lay down now that they were back in camp. She didn’t lay down herself until Burdockpaw appeared. The medicine cat apprentice’s instructions were also murky and hard to hear, but Iceheart managed to understand that she should rest. She lowered to the ground and hissed in pain. Her body ached even through the numbness, like a constant throb. She rested her head near Forestbreeze’s and watched him anxiously. He needed to be alright…
“F…Foxes,” Iceheart managed to finally murmur in response to Honeylight’s frantic questions. “Two of them. They’re dead now.” She wished that she had been able to do more to battle those foxes. They had died, yes, but she wished she could have kept them in pain for all that they did to her Forestbreeze. She didn’t even have the energy to feel frightened at such violent thoughts that were normally foreign to her.
