Iceheart
Iceheart was even more serious than usual as she led a patrol with Swiftheart and Honeylight in tow. She had put off attempting this “rite of passage” for a while. Many of her clanmates had gotten hurt in their rite, and Iceheart was not even sure she was convinced something like this was necessary for ShadowClan. It was certainly not something she would have come up with, had she been in Nightstar’s position. But regardless, it was a tradition he decided to start—and Iceheart was proud of her clan. She wanted to be a part of the ranks with their skills and their pelts, even as the knowledge of where the pelt tradition came from echoed in her mind along with Thalia’s story. She wondered if Nightstar knew that the tradition started with Asylum.
She shook the thought from her head. Focus… Iceheart looked over at her companions. “The fox was spotted out this way. I want you both to keep back so it doesn’t try and attack either of you in the fray. I will call out if I need assistance.”
A fox…It was a tough opponent, for sure. A small part of Iceheart wondered if it was maybe too difficult of an opponent, but that thought was quickly squashed. She knew that she had skill in battling, and she wanted to prove that to her clan. It would be a difficult rite, but she was up for the challenge. She wanted to protect her clanmates. If she could take down a fox on her own—then she could protect her clanmates.
They arrived near the fox den that she and Leopardsun had found a few days prior. She looked over her shoulder to signal to her companions to wait there. Then, she approached. Iceheart kept low to the ground, her ears tall and breathing deeply for any sign of disturbance. The slumbering fox came into view just behind a tree and Iceheart approached. She took one more deep breath and prepared before she sprinted at the fox. Her movements were no longer quiet, and she saw its eyes open and a snarl start to pull from its maw before she collided her full weight against it just as it was getting to its feet. She watched it fall and squeal in pain as the air was knocked from its lungs. The battle had begun, and Iceheart’s fur stood on end as her body entered a fighting rage.
Iceheart used Dishonorable Charge, dealing 10 damage and costing 20 SP. The fox is stunned for 2 turns!
