High Hopes (OPEN)

「Rushingkit ● RiverClan Camp ● Midday ● [Topic No. 01] ● [OPEN] 」

◐ Peeking her head out of the nursery's entrance, Rushingkit wrinkled her nose at all the new smells that were bombarding her delicate pink nose. She adjusted her eyes to the bright midday sun before taking her first steps out of the nursery and into the main camp. Her demeanor quickly changed and she began to eye the clearing with enthusiasm and giddiness. Her face broke into a grin and she scampered away from the comfort of the nursery.

"Freedom, here I come!" She knew should've waited for her mother to escort her around the camp but nah! There was no need for that! She's a big kit now! She'll learn her way around by herself...hopefully. Maybe? Ah well. She'll manage.

Shaking her head, she let out a faux war cry and began to bat and pounce on whatever leaves and other plants that were in her path. "The mighty huntress Rushing is here and nobody's gonna stand a chance!"

Stormdance

Stormdance had been dropping off his catch from a hunting patrol when a young voice caught his attention. He blinked with amusement as he watched the kit scramble out of the nursery and began to make quick work of all the plants nearby. He’d hadn’t had the time to check in with the nursery as of late, much to his mother’s annoyance, so he didn’t recognize the kit.

“Good catch,” Stormdance called softly with a smile, moving closer. “The prey on our territory have much to fear once you become an apprentice.” He chuckled, sitting down and giving her a nod of greeting. “I’m Stormdance. What’s your name?”

◐ At the sound of an unfamiliar voice, Rushingkit whipped around to look at the observer. Her eyes lit up. She had an audience! The she-kit strode over to the warrior with her chest puffed out. She swatted and pierced a few leaves on her way over. She needed to give him a good show, after all.

"Thanks! You're looking at the future best hunter in all the clans!" She gained a bit of a cocky look. "They better watch out 'cause I'm not going easy on 'em!" She followed his lead and plopped down onto her bottom. "Nice to meet ya! My name's Rushing"kit" but everyone calls me Rushing!" She paused and thought for a moment before she shook her head and huffed. She quickly amended her last statement. "Well, everyone will be calling me that soon 'cause they'll see that I'm not just kit! I'm much more than a kit! I'm already grown, see?" She stretched her torso and neck as far as they could go to make herself seem bigger. Or, at least, that was what she was hoping to accomplish. She quickly stopped when she felt her muscles start to ache. She panted lightly but shot the dark-furred warrior a grin. Future great warriors didn't get tired. "Did ya see? Aren't I big and strong already? Rushingkit doesn't suit me so call me Rushing from now on alright?" She then winked at him. "It's an honor. You'll be the first one to call me that."

Stormdance

Stormdance smiled as he listened to the young kit chatter. Rushingkit, or Rushing, he supposed, reminded him a little of Rowanpaw with her boasting. It made him a little worried, he always worried, after all, that she would get into trouble with that, but it was also sweet. It was always nice to see the younger cats excited. “Alright, Rushing. I appreciate being granted this honor.” He agreed with a soft chuckle.

“I see that you are awfully big and strong.” Stormdance mewed, settling down with his tail tucking over his paws. “I’m guessing you’re excited for your apprenticeship then? Is hunting what you’re most excited for, or is there more?” He asked warmly, tilting his head to the side and looking at Rushing.
