Lichenpaw breathed in the fresh Greenleaf air; pricking his ears to each sound within the forest. There was even more life within the woods then there had ever been in Newleaf- squirrels skittering up tree branches, or crows flying overhead; Lichenpaw couldn't help but smile. He- as usual- came forward ahead his patrol, searching for any prey at ground level. The apprentice didn't dislike hunting birds, or in the trees, but.. The ground just seemed a bit safer. After a moment of casting about on Lichenpaw's part, his efforts caught him the smell of a vole. The fluffy tom fell down into a crouch; following the strong scent of the rodent, ears pinned for any small sound.. A musky scent struck the air. Not a heartbeat later, a jolt of pain whipped the apprentice's side. Lichenpaw hissed in pain, twisting back instinctively to see what had caused-
A snake.
His stomach turned; the bite was a pang stronger anything he had felt before, like his whole side had landed on a nest made of thorns. And, StarClan, it was a snake-! A kit eater, venomous, and downright terrifying in its build. Desperate, Lichenpaw spun fully toward the spindly predator; teeth bared. The serpent recoiled at the apprentice's strike, easily slipping backward out of reach.
Lichenpaw attempts to catch a vole, using 3 SP! The hunt is interrupted by a snake. The snake uses Serpent Strike, dealing 6 HP at the cost of 10 SP. Lichenpaw attempts Snap, at the cost of 7 SP. The attack fails. Lichenpaw 14/20 HP 50/60 SP Snake 15/15 HP 65/75 SP
Crimsonflame lifted his head at the sound of a cat yowling, now far from where he was. The squirrel he had planned to catch darted up a tree, now aware of his presence and chattering angrily at him, but he didn't care. Turning, Crimsonflame darted full speed to find the source of the scream.
And find it he did.
The scene explained itself. Lichenpaw, a bite mark in his side, staring down a snake. Immediately, Crimsonflame darted forward, his claws unsheathed. He needed to get this snake away before he could even begin to help the apprentice.
Crimsonflame is attempting front paw strike for 8 damage and 7 sp. The attack was successful!
Wolfblossom had gone for a walk to try and clear her head, but so far that... Wasn't working. It was difficult to pull her mind away from the recent events that had shaken her family, and harder still when she saw how much said events were taking their toll on those she loved.
What did help clear her head, albeit momentarily, was the yowl that split the quiet air. The fluffy she-cat's paws turned as she recognized the yowl belonging to her brother, and she bounded through the trees, not really caring how silent (or not) her paws were on the rocky forest floor. It didn't take her long to reach Lichenpaw and another warrior - Crimsonflame, if she remembered correctly. And a snake. Ears flattening, Wolfblossom struck out with unsheathed claws. The snake, however, was quick enough to avoid her blow, and she let out a hiss of disgruntled fury.
Wolfblossom used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage. Attack was unsuccessful.
Letting out a shrill wheeze, the serpent frantically drew back from the russet brown warrior. Twisting wildly for a moment, it finally landed back upon its initial target; biting down at the first tear of flesh it could reach.
Lichenpaw could do little else but shoot a thankful glance to the warriors before the serpent redoubled its attack. This time, sinking its fangs into his leg. Grimacing in pain, he tried to shake off the reptile- only for its grip to tighten upon the apprentice. Straining, Lichenpaw unsheathed his claws; recklessly striking at the snake with his only free paw. His efforts, however, were in vain. The serpent wrung its long body around the tom's leg, narrowly avoiding the apprentice without giving up its own hold.
The snake uses Gripping Bite, dealing 7 HP at the cost of 15 SP. Lichenpaw attempts Front Paw Strike, at the cost of 7 SP. The attack fails. Lichenpaw 7/20 HP 43/60 SP Snake 7/15 HP 50/75 SP Crimsonflame 40/40 HP 93/100 SP Wolfblossom 40/40 HP 93/100 SP
