The weather was becoming oppressively hot for the long-furred tabby. Fuzzybelly envied RiverClan, if only for a moment, because they could at least cool down in the river or something.

If he was going to make it to the Moonstone again, back to back, he needed to leave before it got even hotter.

He bundled the herbs, at this point almost muscle memory, and walked over to the apprentice’s den.

“Vixenpaw,” he whispered at her as he gave her a nudge with his paw. “We’re going to the Moonstone today. I got the herbs ready. They don’t taste very good, but they’ll help us make the trip.”

As she arose, he walked out of the den and smiled at her.

“Are you ready? Let’s go!”
