The night was uncomfortably hot and humid for Harechaser, but she was determined not to let that stop her as she walked with Crowpaw through the marshes. Officially, this was a hunting patrol, but Harechaser had simply jumped at the chance to spend time with more of her family. Swiftheart had been her mentor, and Murkypaw was now Harechaser's apprentice, but she wanted to spend more time with the rest of her nieces as well.
"So, how's training going?" Harechaser knew Crowpaw had been apprenticed to Marshmallow, an experienced warrior, though Harechaser didn't know her well. She was sure Crowpaw was in capable paws, however.

Crowpaw didn't mind the hunting patrol walk. Harechaser was her aunt — and though she hadn't talked to her much before, she seemed friendly, too! The apprentice surely didn't mind talking to more of her family. "Training? Well, it's a bit slower than I thought with Marshmallow... But it's fine! I'm sure she has more plans for us." She smiled. Marshmallow must've wanted her to relax and get used to things a bit more. That was fine.
"What about Murkypaw? How has her training been?" A small rustle came by, and Crowpaw's ears perked. She hadn't had much experience with hunting, but she could always give it a go. Crouching, the she-cat crept forward before pouncing. Her paws missed, however, but she quickly dissipated her frown. "Well, better luck to me next time."
Crowpaw attempted to catch Rodent for 3 SP! It was Unsuccessful.

"Training is... Going." Harechaser mewed, "Honestly, it feels strange. I've hardly been out of the apprentice den a moon, myself. You and your siblings have the potential to be fine warriors, don't worry." She didn't know Marshmallow all that well, but Crowpaw wasn't the only one whose training was off to a slower start, at least.
"Even warriors miss their prey," Harechaser added, "It's never a sure thing, even for the best hunters in the clan." She mewed gently, then fell silent as her ears detected the soft pitter-patter of tiny pawsteps. Mouse, she thought, and slipped into a crouch, carefully stalking towards the source of the noise. She pounced, coming up with the mouse in her jaws. She quickly found a spot to bury it for later, then turned back toward Crowpaw. "Well, we won't go back empty pawed, at least." And that was the important thing, regardless of who caught what, Harechaser believed.
Harechaser attempted to catch a mouse for -3 sp. Catch was successful. 97 / 100 sp

Harechaser was just a new warrior? That was exciting! "Well, if so, you could tell me more tips to get through my apprenticehood more smoothly!" Crow paw then smiled at the next compliment, nodding. Her ears then twitched again. And then, just in a second, Harechaser had already caught a mouse! She smiled in awe, taking notes of her hunt inside her head. "You're definitely way more skilled than I am," She'd nod. "But I'll try!"
And so, another try she did. This time, a frog caught her attention. She pounced — and as her teeth sunk into the creature, the apprentice pulled back with a grin. Burying her prey next to Harechaser's spot, she went back to the warrior, smiling. "Another catch handled!"
Crowpaw attempted to catch Frog for 3 SP. It was Successful!

"There aren't really shortcuts, training is necessary no matter how well you do." Harechaser said, whiskers twitching with amusement. "And you'll get better with practice," she added. Of course, they both had some pretty large paws to live up to when it came to hunting. Rosepaw's words echoed in Harechaser's mind and she shook her head, trying to push it aside. She was just as good of a hunter as her older siblings were, and Crowpaw and Murkypaw would be, too.
She watched as the apprentice leapt after a frog, the catch earning her a warm smile. "Good catch, Crowpaw!" Harechaser purred.

"Thanks, Harechaser." Crowpaw trilled. A hiss caught her off-guard, and before she could properly glance behind, she felt fangs snap on her hind leg. "Mouse-dung, ow!" She hissed. The pain was sharp and aching, but not to the point where she wasn't able to stand. It seemed like just a normal snake.. Probably. Not an adder. No poison in her was appreciated enough! But not so much for the bite.
"Oh, you snake!" She narrowed her eyes, teeth snapping at the snake — yet missed it just a whisker-length! It coiled back after her attempted attack, and Crowpaw held up her paw in worry. Maybe Harechaser will be able to help...
Snake appeared! Snake used Serpent Strike for 10 SP, dealing 6 damage.
Harechaser's eyes widened as she saw the snake dart towards the apprentice. "Crowpaw!" Harechaser practically yelped in alarm, "Get away from it!" The snake didn't look like a venomous one to her, but snakes could still do plenty of damage and Harechaser didn't want to risk further injury to her niece if she could help it. She darted behind the snake, jaws snapping at its' tail. If she could yank it backwards to get it off of Crowpaw and stun it, disposing of it would be easier. Thankfully, her aim was true, and she tossed the snake backwards with a growl.
Harechaser attempted to use Tail Yank for -15 sp, dealing -7 damage. Attack was successful! Night Finesse active, damage dealt +1. Serpentine movement active, effect dice 1,2,3: attack misses; 4,5,6: attack successful. Snake is stunned.

Snake -stunned, has lost serpentine movement buff for this turn- 7 / 15 HP (15 - 7 - 1) 65 / 75 SP
Crowpaw gasped. Everything was moving all so quickly! One second, the snake had bitten into her, and in the other, her aunt was able to toss the snake back. "I can land this final blow!" She mewed, determined. If she can just...! Sharp claws of hers swiped for the slithery creature, attempting to balance herself on three legs. Her bitten leg wasn't that painful, but it was troublesome whenever she placed it down on the grass. It did hurt, after all.
"I did it!" Crowpaw smiled out of relief, letting out a large sigh as she allowed herself to rest down. The snake fell limp after her attack. It only let out a weak hiss before, but now, it ended. "Despite what you say, Harechaser, you were really cool! The snake just flung and it couldn't even do anything to you!" For a small moment, she nearly forgot about her injury. That was until she stood up again, wincing. "I'll ask Fuzzybelly to take a look at this later. If it all goes well, I have a cool scar and story to tell." She grinned.
"Thank you, aunt Harechaser. Today was thrilling! And don't worry, I'll be fine... I think."
Crowpaw attempted to use Front Paw Strike for 7 SP, dealing 7 (6+1 from Night Finesse passive) damage. Attack was Successful! Serpentine Movement active.
