"Dad!" Harepaw's cheerful trill was muffled by the fur of the massive 'rabbit' she'd caught, jaws aching just a little under the weight of it. She hadn't realized just how big the thing was until she'd tried to pick it up, and while Swiftheart had offered to carry it, Harepaw was determined to do so on her own despite the awkwardness of dragging a creature nearly as large as she was back to camp. That she'd managed to do so left her excited and proud of herself, though as they had neared camp, Harepaw had found herself growing tired.
"Look-" She panted, dropping the prey and flopping down next to it, "-what I caught! On my first try!" So caught up was she that she didn't realize one of the dark forest cats was with Mistyfalcon, as well.

Fawnpatch paused in what she was saying to Mistyfalcon when she heard the excitable voice of a kit. She looked in the direction of the voice and was surprised to find such an interesting looking kit; she looked as though two cats had fused into one. She had seen her from time to time…yes, this was Harepaw. The only reason she knew at all was because Fawnpatch had made sure to learn all of Mistyfalcon’s children, if only just to torment him further.
Fawnpatch purred, “That is a very impressive catch, Harepaw.” She looked to Mistyfalcon. “You must be quite proud. You fathered quite the talented cats.” Her focus resumed on Harepaw and she lazily laid on her side, mirroring Harepaw’s exhausted position. “You should join us for dinner, Harepaw. I’d just brought Mistyfalcon his own prey.”

"That hare is almost as big as you are." Mistyfalcon purred, "Well done, Harepaw." The apprentice was clearly pleased by her father's praise, though her ears flattened at the interruption of the dark she-cat, mismatched gaze turning towards her. Harepaw hadn't expected one of them to actually talk, and she certainly didn't want to spend time with them eating. Everything in her screamed to just turn and walk away. "Uhm... Right. Fine, I guess. I'm not that hungry." She mumbled awkwardly. She'd noted the pitiful excuse of 'prey' that was at Mistyfalcon's paws, yet untouched. "You can have this, dad." Even the smallest lizard would be better than whatever Fawnpatch had seen fit to give him.

Fawnpatch gave the apprentice a smile, though her eyes narrowed with warning. “Your father is already eating. It’s certainly not fair for one cat to get two meals, now is it? If you aren’t hungry to eat now, then you should deliver the prey to the pile.” She gave her shoulder few bored licks. “If you don’t want to eat, then you can leave us be, Harepaw.” Her dismissal was quite apparent, as was the threatening edge to her voice. She knew when an apprentice was out of her reach.

"That's hardly a meal. You're starving-" Harepaw found herself talking back despite her fear, ears flat as she glared up at the dark forest warrior. Before she could finish what she was saying, her father interjected. "Harepaw." Mistyfalcon interjected, "It's okay, really. This is more than enough for me. Put the hare on the fresh-kill pile or give it to one of the queens. I'm sure they'll appreciate it." Harepaw's tail lashed as she stared at him in open disbelief. He was speaking to her... And if looks could kill, she thought that the dark forest cat might have died on the spot, if they were capable of such a thing.

Fawnpatch offered Harepaw a smug smile, but said no more. The apprentice’s father had spoken and given her a task, so there was no need for her to interrupt further. She was certain that she could find another time to teach the brat a lesson for talking back to her; this time was reserved for Mistyfalcon, though. She resumed grooming herself, keeping the apprentice just in her view out of the corner of her eye.
