Pebblekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swanmist's litter was beginning to get apprenticed now. The queen had been so unwell during her pregnancy that it really reflected on some of her kits, and Pebblekit was no exception. However, he could still train to be a capable warrior. RiverClan needed every paw they could get, perfect or not. Perchfall didn't discriminate based on cats' intrinsic abilities, only on their deeds and how hard they were willing to work. Hopefully, this one would be. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!" she called out, scanning the gathering crowd for the kit whose ceremony it was.

Swanmist wasn't prepared to leave her kits just yet. It felt like only yesterday she was with Cloverheart and her kits. She sat next to them. Her tail flicking with uncertainty. They were so much bigger now. Mintkit was almost as big as her, definitely the tallest of the litter... Smokeflame's height? Maybe? She looked at Pebblekit. Hopefully he wouldn't be the spitting image of his father, hopefully none of the kits grew up to act like their father.

The meeting was called, and she had already made sure the kits were cleaned and ready for each of their ceremonies. She had no idea who was up first, and had no idea how spaced out these ceremonies would be, so she had each of her kits ready. Their fur wasn't perfect, it couldn't be, they didn't eat fish. Cloverheart's comments still stung, how could she get them to eat fish? Swanmist knew the medicine cat didn't mean for them to be hurtful, but still. "Each of you be ready, I know one of your ceremonies are soon, and I think at least one of yours might be in this meeting." There was at least one apprentice ceremony, with Perchfall, the deputy, sitting up in that branch.

Pebblekit sat with his family and stared up at Perchfall, his ears twitching at his mother's whispered words. It had to be one of their apprentice ceremonies. He just knew it! He and his littermates were ready for it, even if Swanmist was apprehensive.
He glanced over at his sisters and felt excitement fizzle at his paws. Flurry and Mint had gotten so big in all the moons they'd spent in the nursery. He assumed he'd gotten just as big as they did-- to test the theory, he straightened up as tall as he could, his head wobbling to the left while the rest of him counter-wobbled to the right to make sure he sat as still as he could. He wanted Perchfall to see that he was ready!

Perchfall's eyes immediately seized upon the emaciated white she-cat, who seemed to have actually lost weight as a queen instead of gaining it, sitting next to her kits. Hopefully, with her kits becoming apprenticed, Swanmist would actually go out and about, helping the Clan, and bettering herself. In the meantime, it was time to give one of her kits a mentor. "Pebblekit," the deputy said, looking down at the slightly deformed tom, "you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Pebblepaw. Your mentor will be Egretstorm. I trust that she will pass down all she knows onto you." That said, and the ceremony over, the deputy left to perform her other duties.
