reedkit snuck through the thin branches of the camp walls. recently, he had found a hole through the walls of camp. his mother was going to kill him when she finds out what he did, but no matter. it would be worth it, he was sure. the outside wasn't as the tom had expected. just like the camp, everything was bleak white and shades of grey and brown. where was the reds and blues his mother had told him about?! the scarlet berries in bushes and the green leaves falling from the trees? surely, if he just went a bit further, he would find it? picking up his pace, it wasn't long before reedkit was running. trees and grass blades blurred as he pelted through the forest.

suddenly, he stopped. he saw it. carefully weaving through the bushes was a red creature. its fur glowed like fire in the sun. it had a beautiful long muzzle and a thick tail. it turned it eyes to the dark tabby tom-kit. snarling, it leaped towards him. only then did it occur to Reedkit that this creature might not be a friend but a foe. panic settled in fast.
