Dusk Passing By [Solo]

Duskflight noticed how his hunts have significantly been more difficult, and so knew that he had to come up with a plan. After all, his pelt especially stood out in the snow, and the 'training' event.. if you could call it that— from Frostgaze has told him he needed to practice more. Even as new-leaf was going to arrive, they needed something to rely on, first. Taking his chance, the warrior made his way through the familiar pathways of the marshland, looking for a decent spot filled with prey. Hopefully.. he'll get something to bring back to camp this time, if not more. His lessons with Spottedpaw would benefit from this, too.

Scanning around, the dark-furred tom stopped, deciding that this area would be decent enough for his hunting attempts. Green, pine-colored eyes scanned for movement underneath the snow, hoping that his catches should be sufficient enough to add to the clan. There. Not too far away, a rodent lay nearby. He dropped himself into a crouch, stealthily creeping up to the critter with silent steps. Figuring it was time to close off the distances, Duskflight lunged towards the prey with outstretched claws. Landing with a soft thump to the snow, he soon figured it was a failed catch. However, what he didn't realize was that he attracted attention to his own.

A bushy gray tail, patterned with black-and-white colored stripes around its body. The moment he turned behind, it lunged for his face, and he hissed in pain as he felt a pair of claws slash at his cheek. Just, fortunately— it wasn't to the eyes. He would've barely escaped that.

Raccoon!

The thought echoed out in his head, and while his cheek stung with pain, he couldn't let that distract him right now. His back was arched, and so was its. Its demeanor, although somewhat similar to his, could still be easily identified as different. It was different— though just as dangerous, nonetheless. With a swift movement, the tom leaped behind the predator, fangs aiming to do critical damage as he bit down on its tail. Once his grip was secure, the tom sharply knocked it down, hearing a hostile screech as it got stunned.

Duskflight used Tail Yank, dealing 9 damage (8+1 from Night Finesse) and using 15 SP. Raccoon is stunned for 1 turn.

Using the moment of stun wisely, Duskflight braced himself for another attack, launching himself to the raccoon once again with outstretched claws. His claws slashed its torso, and it screeched again, now more viciously than the other before. It shook its head, quickly recovering from the stun after just a while. Cautiously, it took a step back as if to escape, and while he thought it would've been over— his relief was immediately cut short by another attack. It launched itself at him, clamping down to his front leg as he yowled in unexpected pain. It ached, and fox-dung, he felt as if he couldn't move paw!

Duskflight used Front Paw Strike, dealing 9 damage (8+1), and using 7 SP.
Raccoon used Iron Bite, dealing 17 damage and using 30 SP.

The tom gritted his teeth, and although his pain was immense— he could tell that the raccoon wouldn't be able to attack much further. If not just as worn out, it looked more so exhausted than him. With the other paw still free from damage, he circled the raccoon, limping as he had to hold his other foot up. He.. wasn't used to this, and it still ached. Painfully. It swelled too, and Duskflight promised himself to visit Basilbloom after this. Something was wrong— badly, and he knew that. With a finishing attack, the warrior ran to the predator, slamming down onto its head with a sheathed paw. Although not the grandest of attacks, it was caught unaware and collapsed down to the ground. It was far too injured to fight back again, and once it fell limp, he let out an exhale of relief.

The predator was as big as himself, and he felt glad he still had the strength to defeat it. Would this still be considered a grand 'prey' to bring back for the clan? Or would it still be considered prey at all? Although injured, the tom had a feeling he'd still be able to bring it back to camp. He still had some energy left, and so with some decent amount of effort, managed to carry it back by grabbing its scruff. After all, Emberleap and him brang back an owl from their first training sessions together.
