Nightkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Frostgaze looked up at the Jaggedrock for a moment, studying it. He had never actually been on top before, this was his first ceremony. It was truly fascinating to simply be thinking of leaping up onto it. Least of all, actually calling a meeting. A few licks of his fur, and he was ready. He leapt upward, and despite his short form, he was able to gracefully ascend the rock, white fur gleaming under the moonlight. "Shadowclan, gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" His voice rang across the clearing, blue eyes watching the cats gather beneath him. What a curious sight, a new perspective. Incredible. As the cats gathered, he looked for Nightkit, and subsequently, Burningwing. He was, in short, nervous to give Burningwing another kit to possibly twist into something that should not be, but it was a calculated risk. He believed that Nightkit was of strong mind, and of truth. Frostgaze did not believe that the kit would break his promise to him.

Nightkit as always was sleek and clean, his fur slicked back and stubborn tufts temporarily tamed. He was more than excited! He was ecstatic! He was finally going to become an apprentice, and Burningwing was hopefully going to be his mentor. But his recent conversation with Frostgaze weighed heavily on his mind, and he couldn't help but feel a little conflicted in his time of joy. It was a bit of a struggle to not let such emotions show on his face, but he held himself proudly. Nightkit sat in the circle, watching and waiting as his clan-mates gathered.

As the clan gathered, Frostgaze found Nightkit's dark pelt in the crowd. The kit was groomed impeccably, proud, and full of a kit's foolhardy confidence. It was good to see. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Nightkit, step forward." The white tom watched Nightkit quietly before continuing. "Nightkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Nightpaw. Burningwing will be your mentor, I trust that he will pass down all of his skills to you." With that, Frostgaze leaped down from the rock. Trust was not something he had for Burningwing, but if Burningwing loved his clan as much as Frostgaze believed, then Nightpaw would learn nothing that would affect the clan negatively. Lest the warrior wanted to face any amount of wrath from clan leadership.

swiftkit watched happily as the ceremony took place. She cheered as the deputy promoted her brother to his new rank.

She bounded up to her brother excited, she purred softly "Hey congratulations" she smiled

"You got Burningwing that's who you wanted right? Im so happy for you. I can't wait for my promotion maybe we could train together"
she meowed excitedly

Murkystar padded forward as the ceremony drew to a close, searching the crowd for Burningwing briefly. She wasn't fond of the tom, but his devotion to ShadowClan couldn't be questioned. Nightkit... No, Nightpaw's status as a full-blood ShadowClan cat should keep him safe. Swiftkit congratulated her brother, and Murkystar padded up beside her. Nuzzling her son's head gently, she purred. "Congratulations, Nightpaw. Train hard, and mind your mentor. I'm very proud of you."

Mistyfalcon glanced up at the sound of Frostgaze calling the clan together for a meeting. Apprentice ceremony, he knew, and he could guess at whose ceremony it would be. He watched with pride as Nightkit was called forward.

Burningwing would be his mentor... No way Frostgaze chose that for him on his own. He thought. Mistyfalcon still congratulated his son with the rest of his clanmates (and Swiftkit, he noted, who surely had to be even more impatient now that her brother had been given his new name). "Congratulations, Nightpaw. I'll take you out hunting sometime." He spoke quietly, then stepped away, figuring he'd let the apprentice meet his mentor. Burningwing... Mistyfalcon gave the tom a hard stare. No, he didn't approve of this, but for now at least Burningwing had been loyal. And for his many faults, Mistyfalcon didn't think Nightpaw was in much danger, being more pureblooded than most.
