Fighting Training [for oryx]

Shrikestorm yawned and stretched, padding his way to the apprentice den, where he prodded Buzzardpaw awake. "Come on, Buzzardpaw. Let's get some fighting training in." He waited outside the den for Buzzardpaw to make sure the apprentice didn't fall back asleep.

The warmth of his nest was beyond inviting, but the movement of apprentices around him coupled with his mentors voice jolted him awake, and the tom fought off a sleep-drenched grumble. Instead he got to his paws, arching his back out in a long and overly luxurious stretch, before meeting his mentor with a deep yawn- one that he couldn't fight off, and shook his entire body. Buzzardpaw gave his fur a little shake out, puffing it out to combat the icy-chill of leaf-bare and all it brought with it. After blinking a few times, his mind caught up to his body, and the excitement of going out settled in and he all but leapt in the sky out of excitement. "Okay! Let's go!" The apprentice was practically bouncing as he followed the elder warrior out of camp, his ear tips stinging just a little from the cold.

Shrikestorm took Buzzardpaw to where the other apprentices would do their battle training. The breeze made it cold, but Shrikestorm had warmer fur than most WindClan cats. It allowed him to weather the weather better than most. "Alright, show me your battle stance, then attack me. Keep your claws in, though," he chuckled, readying himself for an oncoming attack.

By the grace of the stars, he also found his fur slightly thicker than that of the rest of his clanmates, a warm insulation against the freezing winds that often whipped across the gorse lined moors of WindClan territory- something he unfortunately attributed to his grandmother, a cat of such infamy that if he was capable of it, Buzzardpaw probably would've cringed with the slight comparison. He padded along behind his mentor, cold still seeping into his paws that had the misfortune of touching the frost-tipped moor. Eventually they came to a space in the moor with grass visibly trampled from moons of use, and his mentor asked him to attack.

The apprentice nodded, thinking of the swatting he and his siblings partook in, and mimicked the stance they used as kits during playfighting. Buzzardpaw lashed out with a sheathed paw, catching his mentor in the shoulder with his paw. "Like that?" He asked, paw tingling a little from the impact with muscle.

Buzzardpaw used Front Paw Blow, dealing 4 damage and using 5 stamina.

Shrikestorm nodded, smiling slightly. "That's good. You seem to have your stance down already. Just make sure to keep your tail above the ground." Shrikestorm then jumped forward, gently swatting Buzzardpaw against the shoulder. Even though he kept it gentle, it was still more powerful than what Buzzardpaw could currently output. "Now, remember to use your speed to your advantage. You're a WindClan cat, so get in as many attacks as you can before your opponent can react."

Shrikestorm used Front Paw Blow, dealing 7 damage and using 5 stamina.
