Wolfkit's Apprentice Ceremony

ThunderClan's deputy once more surveyed the camp from an unusual vantage point - today, she called out to her Clanmates a short distance from the nursery. The feeling of change, however slight, was at least a little bit refreshing - and today, she hoped it would signal the purpose of this meeting. There was a hint of mischief in her expression as she altered the words just a bit, to better suit her purpose. "ThunderClan, gather around for a Clan meeting!"

Wolfkit had been roaming the nursery, trying to get others to hang out and test their might against her moss ball throwing skills, when she heard the call of a meeting ring out across the clearing. With, what was way too fast a speed for being in camp, she barreled out of the nursery and skidded to a stop near the back of the gathering group of cats. The gray and white kit knew one thing, she was six moons old, and that meant she might be becoming an apprentice. With that singular thought, she quickly patted down some of the wild fur on the top of her head and licked her tail a bit to smooth it out. She was ready, and ready meant turning her amber eyes up to Batbite and waiting for the clan meeting to start.

Batbite waited patiently for the subject of today's meeting to step out of the nursery, and once she locked eyes with the young kit she spoke again. "Wolfkit, please step forward," she called out, waiting for the young cat to do so. "Now that you've reached the age of six moons, you're ready to join ThunderClan's ranks as an apprentice. From this moment on, until the day you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw. Your mentor will be Echofrost. I trust he'll teach you well."

Usually, Kestrelpaw watched ceremonies away from the assembled cats. He wasn't too fond of crowds but today, he was making an exception to his mannerisms. This ceremony was special, at least, to him it was. It was an apprentice ceremony but not just anyone's. This was Wolfkit's special day. She had grown on him more than he'd ever imagine. It was only natural that he'd be near the front of the group, watching eagerly as the ceremony went on. Wolfkit was such a lively kit. Her enthusiasm would surly be a much-needed breath of fresh air for the apprentice's den.

As the apprentice listened to his mother's words, his soft, green gaze landed on the young molly that was looking more than ready for her mentor to be appointed. He wondered who she'd be getting. He never really gave these things too much thought. It just wasn't for him. However, this time, he scanned his assembled clanmates as to try and discern who'd be chosen. After not having too much luck, the tabby tom focused back on Batbite and waited for the reveal.

Ah. So Echofrost was now Wolf's mentor? He hadn't interacted much with the tom but from what he's observed, he was a capable warrior. He'd be a fine mentor. Speaking of mentors, the new mentor-apprentice pair had just finished up the ceremony. That was his cue to head on over and offer the molly his congratulations.

"Wolfpaw! Congratulations on becoming an apprentice! I'm very happy for you. I'm sure that your training will go well. Maybe in the near future we can go and patrol? That should be rather nice." With that, the older apprentice moved away but not before playfully batting the she-cat's ear.

The fluffy she-cat took a few long strides forward as her name was called, practically vibrating with excitement. Wolfkit, now Wolfpaw, upon hearing Echofrost was to be her mentor, quickly padded up and bumped her nose against his. "Hi there! I can't wait to start training! Ok bye now see you later!" This came out as a river of words, as she bounced away as quickly as she came, stopping in front of Kestrelpaw, who she had seen approaching. She gave a toothy grin as greeting, and laughed a little when the other apprentice batted her ears. "Thanks and a patrol would be really great! Someday, I'll be just as good as you!" As she meowed this, she moved away towards the Apprentice's Den. She had to find a good spot!
