Bonding Storms

A newleaf storm had raged throughout the day, revealing the holes and cracks that had formed through leafbare. Murkystrike's head and shoulder was wet, she had given up her relatively dry nest with Mistyfalcon to take one of the worst spots, allowing another warrior to rest. As the storm slowly started to move away, she shook her head, water droplets spattering in multiple directions before calling out to the warriors and apprentices. The rain had slowed to a light drizzle, uncomfortable, but not too cold or heavy. Thunder rolled quietly in the distance, and the deputy feared that a second round of inclement weather wouldn't be far off. If that were the case.... "Everyone who can, let's gather what we have readily available and try to patch up the worst spots. If we get more rain, we'll want to be able to shelter and rest in peace. Move the fresh-kill pile somewhere more dry, and focus on the elder's den and nursery first. The kits, queens, and elders need to be kept dry. Otherwise, split up as you see fit. If we work together, we should be in good shape before too long!" Murkystrike called out, shaking her head again as the fur above her eyes formed a droplet. If they worked quickly, perhaps they could celebrate later. Maybe the elders could share some stories while the clan worked. She padded over to some ferns along the edge of camp, pulling up the long leaves and pressing them to the nursery, layering them carefully. Once she had a solid layer, she scooped up some mud in her paw and smeared it across the leaves. That should keep the queens and kits warm, cozy, and dry!
