Fun Times [closed]

Although she was a leader, Lilacstar still enjoyed doing simple warrior tasks. Such as patrols. Today seemed to be one of the warmer days of leaf-bare, although that was not saying much, and the tabby did not have many tasks for the day, so she thought she would take this moment to indulge herself. And it was not long before she saw two warriors she would love to join her.

"Downtuft! Spotlake! Would you two care to join me? I thought maybe we have a nice hunt, run off the cold if that is alright?" She was not willing to acknowledge the badger in the camp out loud, but of course with a hunt, they would need to bring an Asylum cat as well. And it just so happened that Mishka was lingering in the camp, as per usual. Once, the tiny cat had been her friend, but Lilacstar had learned her lesson befriending Asylum cats after what happened with Thalia. Every single one of those cats were a piece of fox-dung.

"You! You might as well come along with us." That would be the last she would speak to the pelt ward, she decided, her previous wounds still fresh. It should be easy enough to ignore her. From what she knew, Mishka wasn't one to speak up. Unless that was another façade.

At Lilacstar's words, Spotlake got up onto her paws, and padded towards the tabby leader. "Sure!" She said cheerfully. She stretched forwards, before flicking her ear.

Downtuft lay beside Shyfawn, as the elderly queen began telling him some tale from back during Ashstar's reign. His ears perked as he heard the distinctive pawsteps of Lilacstar, and as she called his name, he turned his eyes to her, one her titled towards Shyfawn. "I'd love to go for a run, my legs are been aching to go out. Shyfawn, if you would, please go sit with Softbreeze in her den? You'll be protected there while I'm gone."

Shyfawn fondly shook her head, but said no more and wandered away to the medicine den. Downtuft watched her the entire way, then turned back to the mollies in front of him. A small grin on his maw, he made his way across the more with the trio. The Pelt Ward, Mishka?, Followed them, and Downtuft snarled at her, then smirked, remembering her. She was slow, and her legs were short. Where Softbreeze's short legs helped her speed, Mishka's hindered hers.

He winked mischievously at Spotlake and Lilacstar. It would be fun to mess with Mishka. He broke into a sprint when he saw a hare, and the he grinned as the hare began to ran. Perfect. He swirved around it and the hare skidded to a stop, terrified.

Mishka would have trouble keeping up with him. Truth be told, he could've caught the hare by now, but it would be much more fun to toy with Mishka first. Downtuft would catch it though, he was no fool. After about three more turns, he thought could hear Mishka panting and decided to save some fun for Lilacstar and Spotlake. Picking up speed (as he hadn't been going anywhere near as fast he could), he triumphantly caught the hare. "Nice run!~" He sneered. It was petty, but it felt like victory nonetheless.

Mishka's head perked up happily at the sound of Lilacstar's voice, only for her to immediately drop her gaze when she met the leader's eyes. Once upon a time, she had thought they were somewhat friends, but that was all long gone now. Firstly, she was her clan's leader now, and, even though she held no real power over Mishka, it still felt wrong for her, a pelt ward, to be friends with anyone who had power. Although secondly, and probably most importantly, she assumed that she was holding the... accident that had happened involving Thalia against all of Asylum. It was just one cat. But do we all deserve this? Probably. In hindsight, Asylum probably deserved every scrap of hate they got.

"Lilacstar, I-" She started to apologise quietly, but almost immediately snapped her mouth shut. Even if the tabby did listen to her (which was already unlikely) she then, like always, risked trouble with the nightstrikers. 

Instead, she hurried after the patrol, keeping her eyes locked to the ground as they made their way out of camp. She had lost one of the few friends that she had, and now she thought about it, she hadn't seen Violetpaw in a very long time. I hate the moors. She thought as they dashed away, far too quick for her liking. Why wouldn't he just catch the hare? Even though Mishka rarely went properly hungry, her few days as a solo kit lost in the woods meant that she still saw all food as scarce. It also didn't help that she had spent most her life being told how lucky she was to be saved.

Downtuft's a real jerk, isn't he? Mishka herself was surprised at how brave her thoughts had gotten recently. But if Windclan was allowed to hate on Asylum, then she could hate on Windclan. I'll show them. I don't need to be fast to catch could prey. The new hunting style she had developed for the moors certainly helped her, but her lungs were still heaving from the run, so she would have to wait a little before she could be quiet. She ducked behind a large tuft of grass, and waited a little, eyes alert for a rabbit or hare to come running past.

Eventually one did, moving quite slowly since nothing was chasing it. She jumped out, and before it could dash away in fright, she dug her claws into it and dragged it towards her, killing it with a bite to the neck. She returned to her patrol, struggling slightly to carry the hare without it dragging on the ground too much.

Mishka used 5 Sp to catch a hare. Catch was successful!

Lilacstar gave a word of congratulations to Downtuft on his catch, however eccentric it might have been. She knew a warrior would normally be chastised for what Downtuft had done, but part of her still said she shouldn't get on his case, since he was older.

As for Mishka, she ignored her entirely, although every now and then she would steal a longing glance at the pelt ward. Try as she might, she could not forget the friendship they once had. But she also could not forget what had happened from her last friendship. So she swallowed her regret and brushed past Mishka.

She spotted a rabbit nibbling at the grass, and began to make her way forward. It seemed to be blissfully unaware until the very moment the leader sprang. The chase was short, but it was thrilling, and eventually she was heaving the rabbit back to her patrol.

Lilacstar attempted to catch a rabbit. Catch was successful! -5 SP

As Spotlake bounded out of a camp, she gave a few glares to Mishka. Despite how friendly the she-cat seemed, it was a disguise. And from Spotlake's experiance with the Asylum, disguises were the Asylum's strong suit. As Downtuft bounded after the hare, Spotlake watched, intrege growing when Downtuft didn't catch the hare right away. Was he joking around? Shrugging her shoulders, Spotlake bounded after Downtuft, as he caught the hare. Skidding to a stop, the fluffy calico smiled at Downtuft. "Congrats on the catch Downtuft!" She congratulated.

A scent then caught Spotlake's nose, as turned her head, and saw a mouse hiding in the grass a few fox lengths away. She crouched down, and stalked towards it, before leaping. She pinned the mouse down, and bit down on its neck, killing it swiftly and quickly. She picked up the limp body of the mouse, before padding back to her clanmates, and Mishka. She had come back around the same time Lilacstar had, and set down the mouse. "Great catch Lilacstar!" Spotlake said cheerfully, before looking around at all the prey. "Seems like we had ourselves a rather sucessful hunting patrol!"

With a frown, Downtuft sighed. It seemed Lilacstar and Spotlake didn't understand what he'd been trying to do. Oh well. "Great catches, you two!" He mewed, completely ignoring Mishka's presence and successful catch. Spotting a hare, he silently approached it, waiting until the perfect moment to pounce. So it came with great surprise when the rabbit turned and raced past him, and then the scent of goose told him why. "Look out!-- Goose!" he warned, leaping into fight.
