Chaperone[CLOSED for PandaPi]

The sun was quickly setting on the forest, bathing RiverClan in a warm orange glow. Dennis swayed slightly on the spot in front of the apprentices' den, hesitant to go in. The warriors were all either busy or already settling down to sleep despite the moon not yet being visible against the still-bright sky. But he needed someone to take him into the territory, and the apprentices seemed plenty capable. He hated to disturb the Clan cats, but he needed some more poppy seeds and still needed someone to take him. So, with a deep breath and a quick shake of his ears, he entered the apprentices' den. "Excuse me? Sorry to bother, I was just w-wondering if one of you could escort me to the forest? I need to pick up a herb."

Moonpaw stuck his head out almost hitting the medicine cat in the nose. "Yes, no problem." he said blinking in the harsh sunlight. He usually went out at night, but this seemed to be a good idea to go with Dennis and learn about how to heal himself. "Although I should warn you that I am not as experienced in fighting as many of the other warrior's or apprentices. Mother says that I need to toughen up and learn stuff from her or that I might never become a warrior." He blinked as he realized that he was pratteling on, "Yes, of course I can come into the forest with you." he said smiling at the medicine cat.

Dennis smiled at the younger cat, jerking his head back to avoid being headbutted by him. He was glad he found such a willing apprentice to take him; he didn't want to be a bother, so a cat that genuinely wanted to come with him was more than welcome. "Oh that's alright, I'm sure you're better than me anyway." He blinked, deja vu scrambling his thoughts for a second, before continuing. "It's alright not to be tough, sometimes. Everyone's got something they're good at. I'm positive that some of the greatest warriors weren't tough at all." He smiled and began to limp out of camp, staying by Moonpaw's side until the two were adequately far out into the territory. "Alright, look for poppies. Red or yellow petals, little seed pod in the middle. I'm not hopeful, given the snow, but-" He stopped, tall ears swivelling to the right as he heard a twig snap. "Did you... Did you hear that?" Was it a predator? An enemy cat? He instinctively stepped out in front of Moonpaw. How familiar.

Moonpaw smiled at the way that Dennis was treating him. This cat seemed friendly and wanting and friend- "Red or yellow petals with a small seed in the middle, got it." he said and began looking around for the little flowers. Suddenly Denis stepped in front of him and Moonpaw slid his claws out, "Snake." he said with a certai flair in his eyes, "I've fought them before."

The snake slithered out of the grass and 'stood' as tall as it could. "HISSS."
