| Dennis- or Spiderquill, as he had forced himself to respond to- looked anxiously at the herb pile in his den. The medicine den, it was called. Explained his skill with healing, and fit with what Elsa and Storm had told him. Anyway. The herb pile was nearly empty. It had looked bigger before, but after sorting the herbs in his preferred fashion- by use, ordered from most plentiful to most scarce- he could see that even the plentiful herbs were fairly depleted. What was he supposed to do in this situation? Go and find more? Tell someone about it? He wasn’t sure. But he didn’t want to pester anyone, so he busied himself looking around camp for the herbs he was missing(that is to say, all of them).
After two hours and not a single herb, however, Dennis slowly realised that camp was devoid of herbs. He figured that made sense; herbs preferred shade and peace, and RiverClan’s camp provided neither for the most part. So. The only option now was to… go find herbs. On his own. Yikes. He still wasn’t sure if he wanted to stay here, but even if he didn’t he figured that he’d sooner get lost on his own than find his way back home. Plus, he wasn’t heartless. If RiverClan needed herbs, it would be horrible of him to leave them without them. So now that left him with one solution: find someone to take him.
Ivystar was the obvious choice at first: as leader, she probably knew the territory like the back of her hand. Plus she appeared to care about him, and most likely wouldn’t say no. But, as horrible it made him feel, she made him uncomfortable. It was due to no fault of her own, but being around her made his chest hurt. The gross feeling of not living up to what everyone thought he should be persisted throughout all of camp, but around the leader it was increased tenfold. He felt horrible for it, but Ivystar was not an option.
But that meant that nobody was, as he didn’t really know anyone here. He sighed deeply, steeled himself, and decided that he’d simply have to pick a random warrior and hope they’d take him. RiverClanners were nice enough, they’d probably agree or direct him to somebody who would.
He approached a nearby calico she-cat, tail tucking in nervously. ”Um, sorry, excuse me?”
