Homecoming (Closed)

It had been a few days since the patrol, enough time for Duran to finally gather his courage.  That morning had dawned bright and beautiful, filling him with a probably foolish amount of hope.  Before most other cats had woken and begun their day the gray-pelted tom slipped on his black fox pelt and left the area where Asylum slept, making a beeline for Ivystar's den.  His pawsteps were slow but sure, and as he crossed the camp so many things stood out to him.  The fresh-kill pile where he had once stolen a fish to try and take back to his brother and sister, the apprentice's den where he had slept beside Streampaw and Willowpaw, the Willow Branch where his mothers stood to make announcements...this place hadn't been his sanctuary for long, but it sure did feel like home.  Green eyes softening, he pushed forward; now, it was his home again, but in a much different way.  He had taken it back by force, and the cats who had made it feel so welcoming still regarded him as an enemy, and maybe always would.

He wouldn't know...unless he took this step.

Pausing at the entrance to Ivystar's den, the small tom took a deep breath and closed his eyes, clearing all thought from his mind except what was needed.  He had to hold his composure, he had to do this right...if not, what sorts of regrets would he keep?  Stepping inside, he still stayed out of sight as he called out to his mother, who he knew would be up; she was usually an early riser.  "Um, excuse me Ivystar...can I speak to you?  It's an important matter...oh, this is...Duran, of the Asylum."
