Deadpaw soon scented another bird. It was pecking at the ground...Wait...that's a...pheasant! The enormous bird was as round as an expectant queen. Deadpaw lunged at it and bit on it's neck. It thrashed wildly, and batted Deadpaw with its wings. After a few moments of difficulty, Deadpaw managed to snap its broad neck. Deadpaw fluffed out his fur in embarrassment; It had been a very hard kill.

moosepelt thought to himself then he came out of a bush "deadpaw you may have missed a some prey but you pass your assesment"he praised

Deadpaw nearly leaped into the air in joy. He calmed down and dipped his head. "You have been a great mentor...and a great father," he admitted.

"thank you,you have been a great apprentice and son, now let's head back."he said
