Battles of the river

Wisteriabloom's mind was far, far away as she strolled along the river in search of clues. However, her attempt was in vain and she knew it all too well. Multiple patrols had already checked and double-checked the area incase the kits had fallen into the torrents that had once been a peaceful river. I guess its just a border patrol then. She thought. But if she could do anything in the slightest too near the time where she could reunite with her daughter, she would. Breathing in deeply, hoping that there might be the faintest trace of kit-scent somewhere, or at least some prey. But she was abruptly brought to her senses at the stench of rouge.

As soon as she spotted the tabby, she leapt onto her back. Her previous mistake with Smallbean had made her wary or attacking trespassers, but after her correct attack of Cedarheart and the stress of her missing daughter, she had no hesitation. Brash as she was being, she thought she had nothing to loose at this point - Lilypaw was missing, and Snakekit too. At least this would take her mind off things. She raked the she-cats back with her claws, trying to hold on as long as possible.

Wisteriabloom used Leap-and-Hold on Twig, costing 10 SP and dealing 11 damage. Attack is successful for 2 turns!

"Ugh! Again? You cats really like to pin us loners..." The cat meowed. She was still kind of small, but almost 6 moons. She rolled her eyes, seeming to not care.

Wisteriabloom, no matter how hard she tried not to, started to feel a bit bad for her opponent: she was young, there was no denying that, and the warrior's longing to see her daughter again was strong than ever. However, she hung on to the tabby, continuing to rake her back with her claws. The silver she-cat was huge, even if she hadn't always been so much larger than her average clanmate. "So what's your business here rouge," she questioned.

If she were to ever fight off trespassers, she would have to push past her thoughts at the she-cats age. She may've been young, but if she were old enough to purposely trespass, she was old enough to fight. The life of a wild cat was hard, especially for those who lived without the support of a clan. I have to stop sympathising with her, she thought, or what good a warrior am I?

She rolled her eyes again. "Getting a drink? This is a heckin river!" She hissed angrily. Clan cats would not let her do ANYTHING without bein like, 'Oh you're on my territory!' Ugh!

She was just drinking? Wisteriabloom sighed. When she was younger, she would've definitely just questioned this cat, but recent stress and her now matured attitude had changed her mindset. But weren't there other streams nearby? Surely there were other places for this rouge to drink. It did, however, remind her of the time when she had met Elsa by the river as an apprentice. Almost everything had felt different then: the hot weather had come to a close, and it was before she had adopted) and now lost Snakekit.

As the warrior's grip loosened slightly, she leaped off. She still had the upper hand and could easily launch another attack, but something made her hesitate. It wouldn't be fair, right? It was a stupid reason really. But Wisteriabloom wasn't quite feeling like herself at that moment. There was no doubt that she would win the fight anyway, however - this cat was the age of a young apprentice, and Wisteriabloom didn't just beat her in skill but also in size.

I guess I'll just talk to them then while I wait for them to attack. It almost felt as if she were sparring, as there was little risk for her. She knew it was bad to treat defending her territory as a game, but she had such an upper hand here that she had nothing to loose. "Who are you?" she asked, "I am Wisteriabloom, a warrior of Riverclan." She may question others, but she didn't feel the need to overshare with this loner.

Well that was quick... She got up and shook herself off. "Twig. Didn't expect a clan cat to stop attacking so quick." She mewed. Her brown, tabby pelt camouflaged her against the fallen leaves, and trees with barely any green left. A bit annoyed, she bonked Wisteriabloom on the head with a sheathed claw, her weakest attack. She then backed up and sat down, watching her.

What are you doing?

Wisteriabloom questioned herself. She had rightly challenged a trespasser, and now she had just stopped. What was wrong with her? I'm useless, she told herself, I'm just being useless. She didn't know whether to attack again, but no matter how much she should've, she just couldn't bring herself to do it. Maybe a verbal warning would be enough for the rouge to learn her lesson. Twig's blow was definitely not aggressive in any way - it seemed to more come out of a place of annoyance.

Copying the tabby's relaxed civil actions, Wisteriabloom sat down, but still kept her distance a little. Her mind was easily distracted these days, and being caught off-guard was a serious weakness. But if Twig tried anything, she would try and be ready. Or so she thought. Maybe it's because of how much I miss Snakekit...

There was no doubt in her mind that her daughter's disappearance had weakened and worried her. Maybe she just needed a break from warrior duties. To go curl up with Snakekit and listen to the stories she told about her adventures. But that was how it used to be. It wasn't possible any more. A tear welled up in her eye. She would not cry in front of this cat. Trying to cover up her tears, she shook her head slightly, pretending to have something in her eyes. However, her needing a break was still a true fact.

"Take this as your warning, I guess." Wisteriabloom mewed, her voice slightly choked, "Do you live around here all year round?" She was trying to make polite conversation, remembering what Elsa had told her. All she wanted to do was run. To be alone, if she couldn't just be with Snakekit. There was no way that the kits had left on purpose - her daughter wouldn't do that to her, to not come back. More tears stung her eyes, and she prayed to Starclan that Twig wouldn't notice.

"Haven't gotten the chance to live anywhere since I was lil." She mewed, calming down a bit. She curled her tail around herself. "The clan cause keep kicking me out while I'm just trying to do thing to keep meh alive!" She growled a bit. "You guys got any actual places to rest?" She mewed.

"Really?" Wisteriabloom asked, letting her childish curiosity take over her. At least it distracted her from her grief even if it was silly. "Yeah, we have a camp and live together." There was no way in the whole wide world that she would give away its location, though. For trained clan cats, it wasn't too hard to guess its location, but she refused to give any clues.

Taking a moment to think, the large warrior continued. "If you want to avoid the clans, you could try over there," she gestured to the territory near Highstones, even though they couldn't really see it form where they were. Sure, if she ventured into Mothermouth there would be some serious issues, but if she stuck to lower parts of the teritory it would probably be fine. From what she had seen when she went on her moonstone trip as an apprentice, it didn't seem like the nicest territory, as it lacked trees or streams. But Twig didn't need to know that.
