Making use of the River

Willowbreeze stood at the entrance to camp, waiting to hunt with Wisteriabloom.  The cold wind ruffled her pelt, and she was anxious to get moving.  When she saw Wisteriabloom's familiar pelt, she started walking toward the river.  It would be best to get as many fish as possible before the river froze.  She sat on the bank of the river, waiting for her hunting partner to catch up.

"Ahh! Sorry I'm late!" Wisteriabloom called as she ran to meet Willowbreeze at the camp's entrance. Her and Shrikepaw had been out together, and they had both lost track of time. In general, she was not a very disorganised cat, so this little slip-up annoyed her greatly. She reached the river quickly, and sat down beside it. "How are you Willowbreeze?" The older warrior wasn't one she chatted with much, and fishing was static enough to be able to hold a conversation. As she waited for Willowbreeze to answer her question, she stuck her paw in the now cool river. It didn't take long for her to feel scaly prey against her sheathed paw. In one swift movement, she flicked her paws upwards, hoping to catch the fish. She easily caught it in her mouth, killing it as she caught it.

Willowbreeze sat by the riverbank, Wisteriabloom next to her.
"I'm good, although the cold seems like it has been coming too fast, which I guess it feels like every leaf-fall," she said, eyes fixed on the river.  "How about you?"    

As Wisteriabloom hooked a fish out of the water, Willowbreeze was glad that they'd have prey to bring back to the Clan.  "Good catch!" she told her.  She suddenly fell silent as she watched a shadow dart beneath the surface of the water.  She swiftly struck out her paw, aiming for the silver streak.

Willowbreeze uses 3 SP to try to catch the fish.  The catch was successful.

Greenish-yellow eyes still fixed on the water, she replied to Willowbreeze. "I've never seen Leaf-bare before, and I can't imagine the river freezing over." She had heard it from  the older warriors stories - she knew leaf bare would be cold and difficult. "We lost out on the river in Greenleaf, so I hope it stays plentiful with fish for as long as possible."
Not long after she had finished talking, her paw darted into the water, returning with a fish hooked in her claws. After padding a few paw steps away to burry it with their other catches, she answered the other warrior's next question.

"I'm well, thanks, but StarClan Snakekit is a handful." Wisteriabloom said. She loved her adopted daughter with all her heart (well, most of it, she thought, Shrikepaw on her mind), but balancing raising a kit, training an apprentice and her warrior duties was tricky, especially if she still wanted to have free time to spend with Shrikepaw. "I never thought raising a kit would be so hard."
