Clearstone turned his gaze up to the sky as he loped towards the entrance to camp. It seemed to be around midday, the perfect time for a hunting patrol. The heat of Greenleaf was oppressive; thank StarClan he was blessed with short fur. He could deal with heat, it didn't bother him too much, but he felt sorry for his Clanmates that had longer, thicker pelts. With the heat, however, came prey that was sluggish and fatigued during the day, beaten down by the heavy, humid air. If he was patient and diligent about it, he could come home with a swath of prey for the fresh-kill pile.

He turned, looking around camp for some company. More cats hopefully meant more prey to be captured. No one immediately caught his eye, so he resigned himself to sitting down in the entrance to camp, tail sweeping back and forth across the dirt. "I'm going on a hunting patrol, if anyone would like to accompany me." Clearstone called, addressing all of camp. Now all he could do was wait.

"Me! Memememe!" Haypaw was on her paws in an instance, eyes gleaming as she darted out of the tallgrass where she had been napping. She had been content with just lazing around in the shade but she had found a love for being out on the territory, the feeling of wind in her pelt. She...Wasn't the fondest of hunting - it still took some toll on her to actually kill but...It was the life of a warrior, and she wanted to help her Clan. It was just something she had never thought about when she had been a kittypet, having to kill to eat your food but...Well, she suppose it was only natural and it was what it took to survive out here.

But in any case, she was just happy to get to leave the camp again. She slide to a stop next to Clearstone, smiling brightly at the tom. She hadn't gotten to know him all that well before he had moved out of the warrior's den and she knew he apparently didn't like outsiders that much but...Well, he had still been there to try to support her to give being an apprentice a try and she was thankful for that. She shifted back and forth on her paws, energy flooding through her as she waited to see if anybody else would join them for the hunt.

Wildflower rose to her paws at Clearstone's call. She gave her fur a quick groom as an enthusiastic Haypaw approached... or, she thought it was Haypaw, anyway. She hadn't been as present with the apprentices as she should've. Her eyes clouded slightly, remembering Heatherpaw, the last apprentice she'd spoken to... mangled body lost to the Gorge. Shaking her head, Wildflower followed Haypaw and nodded to Clearstone. "I'll come, too." Smiling slightly, the blind warrior's tail curled up at the thought of running the moor. She hadn't liked the wind before this, but during this heat... it was the best relief she could get. Wildflower returned her attention to Clearstone in front of her, paws kneading the ground slightly in anticipation.

Haypaw bounded up at his call, filled with energy and excitement, and Clearstone did his best to hide a small smile of amusement. It was good to see her enjoying herself, it seemed she had found her right path after all. He gave her a nod in greeting, ears rotating in the direction of his friend Wildflower as she padded up as well. "Thanks for joining me, you two. Let's head out, the fresh-kill pile is looking a tad sparse." Without another word, Clearstone rose to his full height and loped out of camp with the two mollies in tow.

After a few minutes of walking, the young warrior stopped, holding up his tail to signal for the others to stop as well. For Wildflower's sake, though, he gave a verbal command as well. "This is a good place to stop, I believe. We should split off and search for prey. Be on the lookout for predators." Characteristic of the tom's personality, he slunk off through the grasses with nary another sound. Stalking as quietly as he possibly could, mouth parted to catch the scent of prey better, a rustling off to the side alerted him to a bird. His tail flicked as a soft breeze blew over the top of his head, carrying with it the scent of quail. Easy enough. Pinpointing the source, he padded closer to the bird. If he timed it right, he could catch it midair as it took off.

He swiped his tail through the grass, creating a rustling noise to scare the quail off. It squawked and fluttered up into the air to get away and Clearstone unsheathed his claws and leapt for it. Unfortunately, it seemed this time he wasn't on his A-game because he leapt just slightly too late and the bird escaped his grasp. He landed squarely on his feet, huffing in annoyance. Hopefully he'd get it next time.

Haypaw glanced over as Wildflower joined them, dipping her head to the warrior. She didn't know her that well - they had been denmates for a little while but hadn't gotten much of a chance to actually talk to her before she was off doing warrior duties. But this meant a chance to get to know her and that was perfect! "Perfect! Lets go!" she meowed as Clearstone turned and padded from the camp. She bounded after him, making sure to stick close as she paused to sniff every pretty flower that caught her eye. Finally they came to a stop and her energy dropped slightly as Clearstone mentioned hunting. Right...Yeah, that was why they were out. She sighed, taking in a deep breath as she nodded to the two warriors and padded her own way - mouth open as she tasted the air. There was the faintest shift in the grass, making out the form of a rabbit peaking between the strands. She dropped into a crouch, tail lashing before she broke into a dart. Suddenly the rabbit darted out - straight at her. She stumbled to a stop in surprise, trying to slam her paw onto the critter but it went right past her.

"...What?" she questioned, watching as it disappeared down into a hole...And the sound of rustling caught her ear. ...Oh. The rabbit had deemed her the less threat of... She glanced back at the grass as a gray and black form stepped out, growling and hissing at her. It looked...Odd and she wasn't sure what creature it was. She titled her head, to startled by its apperance to do something smart - like running. That was until it leapt at her. With a started yelp she bounded backwards and darted underneath its claws, scrambling away as she puffed up her fur. "Uh...H-Help! Clearstone? Wildflower? I-I think I found a predator!"

Haypaw attempted to catch a rabbit, she failed costing 3 stamina....And found a Wild Raccoon.
Wild Raccoon used Quick Swipe, dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.
Haypaw used Dodge-and-Fight, avoiding the previous attack and costing 15 stamina.*

And they were off. Clearstone stopped and gave them orders to split up. Wildflower let her two patrolmates  stalk off as she tasted the air, finding the scent of hare. Perfect. It was a while off, she judged, and started loping towards it, careful to shift with the wind so her scent wouldn’t blow in the brown animal’s direction. Muscles tensed, the hare’s large ears pricked up and it turned in Wildflower’s direction. She sensed the movement and increased her stride, focusing solely on speed. The hare froze for half a second and pelted off, blind warrior in close pursuit... Until she heard Haypaw’s yelp. The hare did as well, and stopped for a second, head tilting, trying to judge what the noise was. Quickly, Wildflower bowled it over, hoping she could catch it and help Haypaw. The hare trembled, kicking at her face. She spat out a mouthful of fur and bit the hare’s neck, swinging it into her mouth and sprinting back towards Haypaw.

“I’ll be there soon,” she yowled, hoping her voice would carry over the wind, muffled by the hare as it was.

Clearstone raised his head as the musty scent of a beast filled his nose. Haypaw's yowl came shortly after. With a heavy sigh, as he was trying to focus on hunting, he broke into a sprint and charged at the raccoon, hissing a warning of his own at the predator. Shielding Haypaw from its sharp claws, he reared up on his hind legs and came crashing down with all his weight, slashing the raccoon's face with powerful claws. A quick surveying glance around told him that Wildflower was off hunting but he figured she would be coming to help soon.

Haypaw was scrambling around to stay out of reach of the raccoon's claws when Clearstone came barreling in, jumping in between her and the raccoon. The quick scent of blood told her that the raccoon had slashed at the warrior and an anger burned in her chest. She should have been more careful - she hadn't been expecting it and that had made her careless. Now her Clanmates were getting hurt. She whirled around, darting around the warrior as she slashed at the raccoon's side with a hiss - determined to help keep Clearstone safe.

Wild Raccoon used Quick Swipe on Clearstone, dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.
Haypaw used Front Paw Strike on Wild Raccoon, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Clearstone was closer and dropped his hopes of hunting, rushing to the aid of Haypaw. Tossing the hare in a nearby bush as she sprinted, Wildflower tucked her head between her shoulders and barreled straight into the raccoon. Stupid creatures, like the one that had ambushed Olivestone and her as an apprentice on her first outing. Ducking away from the large creature, the speckled warrior checked for signs of wounds for her companions. The scent of blood ran from Clearstone's pelt, and she quickly judged the raccoon had hit him. Otherwise, they seemed fine. Panting with the effort of exerting herself in her sprint to get over to her patrol, Wildflower stepped back, allowing herself to catch her breath while the other two took on the raccoon for a minute. From what she could tell due to its blood and lumbering steps, the raccoon was getting more tired.

Clearstone growled in pain as the raccoon's sharp claws slashed across his shoulder, scoring marks through his skin. Wildflower came rushing in to the rescue and barreled into the beast with surprising force. Panting from shock and exertion, the young warrior rounded on the predator again and gave a snarl, determined to finish it off. It wasn't looking too good...And a raccoon in the fresh-kill pile would feed the Clan for at least a week. Claws unsheathed, he waited a moment in order to time his strike just right, then dealt a lethal slash across the raccoon's throat, tearing its neck open. The raccoon soon slumped to the ground unmoving, blood pouring out of its wounds.

The warrior took a couple steps back, sides heaving from the effort of the battle, before he turned to look at his companions, visually checking them to make sure they were okay. "Everyone alright? No one is hurt?" Well, no one except for him, of course.

Haypaw scrambled away as the two warriors jumped onto the raccoon and Clearstone ended its life with a quick swipe to the neck. She gagged at the thick scent of blood that filled the air, turning away as she scrubbed at her nose as if would help get rid of the rich scent that overwhelmed her - she still wasn't that used to the idea of...Death and killing yet, she knew it was natural and it was better to kill the predator before they killed you but it didn't make the smell or sight any easier to see. "I-I'm fine," she managed once she had calmed herself down, giving the two warriors a sheepish look. "Um...Thanks for coming so quickly. I-It was hiding in the tall grass, I didn't see it until it was right on top of me," she explained, before she fixed her gaze on Clearstone. "...Are you going to be alright? How bad is your injury?"
