An adventure out of the nest (open)

Quailkit stepped out of the nursery quietly. Over the few days he's been alive his build started looking broad but he still looked like a young kit.

He glanced around before walking again as the the sun rose and the clan started waking up. At least I'm not awake too early. He thought. He walked towards a den, one that was bigger then the nursery."What den is this?" He asked out loud, unaware that there were cats inside.

Willowheart was busy fixing her moss bedding, when suddenly a loud voice came out of nowhere. Turning back in surprise, the cream she cat saw a tiny kit. Hmm...who had the last litter...oh! Batbite and Minkstream, of course! Padding towards the tiny tom, Willowheart gently nudged him outside with her tail. “Come on. This is the warriors den. They’ll try to trample you if you’re not careful. What’s your name? I’m Willowheart.”

Quailkit looked up to see a cat named Willowheart. "Oh hello. I'm Quailkit but cats who are super close to me call me Daris!" Quailkit bowed to the older she-cat. "Hey you wanna play a game? Or become friends?"

Little kit-blue eyes peered out of the nursery, blinking at the sun shining into the camp and curiously following the dark form of her brother as he wandered over to another den. Her eyes flicked around the rest of the camp, hesitant at the huge space, so much bigger than the inside of the nursery, but after a moment she stepped forward, her ears pricking towards the much, much bigger cat talking to Daris. Big like her parents.

A game? Friends?

Curiosity overcoming the hesitancy, she slid out of the nursery, her little legs half-crouching as she sidled over to the two, ears and tail flicking. It felt so huge, sending little feet crawling up her spine. She stopped beside her brother, her body looking almost small and frail compared to his as she stared up at the cream she-cat with wide eyes. "You're big."

Willowheart nodded at Quailkit. “Can I call you Daris then? That’s a nice name.” When another voice drifted out of the nursery, Willowheart looked down to see another kit, probably Quailkit’s sibling. Willowheart had to chuckle as the she-kit commented about her being big. “You’ll be big like me someday.” Lying down to make the kits feel more comfortable, she examined both kits. They certainly looked like Minkstream and Batbite for sure. “Mossball seems quite boring, don’t you think?”

"Of course you can call me Daris!" His ear perked when he saw his sister. "Thats Sablekit also known as Lirista." He sat down, curling his tail around his younger sister.

"Well I've played it tons of times in the nursery." Quailkit commented when Willowheart said how mossball seemed quite boring. "I am a bit bored of it though."

Sablekit blinked. Try as she might, she couldn't imagine being big like this cat, though... maybe that would be nice? The clearing might not seem so huge then. She nodded when Daris mentioned her name, softly batting at the tip of his fluffy tail curled around her, her gaze turning from him to the cream cat again. Her voice stuck in her throat with excitement when the she-cat asked a question, a sparkle coming into her eyes at the mention of a game, but even as she opened her mouth Daris replied, and she hesitated. "Mossball's fun..." She said uncertainly. Was it boring? She'd played it a lot. Did that make it boring?

She tilted her head slightly, her paws kneading at the ground. "But what else would we play?"

Little Hickorykit awoke from a midday nap with a yawn, stretching her kitten legs and tail out as far as they would go. Some of her siblings were napping around her, but some, she noticed, were not in the nursery. She got to her paws and gave her fur a good shake, almost toppling over with her vigor. Quailkit and Sablekit were nowhere to be seen. Hickorykit toddled over to the entrance to the nursery, peeking out to see the rest of camp with wide, curious eyes. She hadn't been outside much; since she was a little smaller than her siblings, Batbite preferred to keep her close, but that wouldn't stop her from sneaking out. If her siblings could do it, she could too.

The sound of voices caught her attention and she pricked her ears, looking over to see her missing siblings talking to an older cat, a warrior. They introduced themselves with both their names, she noticed. That was always a confusing thing to her. It seemed like her parents had given each kit two names, for a reason she didn't quite understand yet. It was always so confusing talking to other cats...Should she call herself Hickorykit, or Dock? For now, she had settled for going by Dock around family and Hickorykit around Clan members. That seemed the most logical. The little orange-and-white she-kit realized she was staring out into the air very blankly and blinked, refocusing on the task at hand.

With a little giggle, she bounded over to Daris and Lirista, coming up behind them. She purred softly, bumping her sister with her shoulder and flicking her brother with her tail. "Hi...what are you talking about? I want to play too...!"

Sure, I'm down! We don't have to if you want to move on, though, the kits being apprentices now and all, I just thought it'd be cool to continue.

Sablekit felt a bump on her shoulder, and she looked to see Dock come up. She glanced back at Daris and the big cat, and shrugged. "Um, I think we're trying to find something that isn't mossball to play."
