In the aftermath of the Gathering, the camp had been in almost a frenzy as everyone tried to return to normal, with lots of patrols, border and hunting alike, and this one was no different. Olivestone padded over to the camp entrance and sat, giving herself a quick once-over groom, flattening the unruly clumps of her and getting rid of any moss that may have been stuck to her pelt. The day prior, she'd asked for Maplewhisker and Zinnia to join her on a hunting patrol, and now it was time for said patrol.

Maplewhisker noticed Olivestone sitting at the camp entrance, and padded over to join her.  This was one of her first hunting patrols as a warrior.  She figured it probably wouldn't be any different from patroling as an apprentice, but she liked hunting either way.

Zinnia strolled over to where Olivestone and Maplewhisker were already waiting, stretching slightly. "Are we ready to go?" she asked pleasantly, looking forward to chasing down prey on the moor. Hunting had always been a pastime she enjoyed, and that they were also feeding the rest of the clan... It was honorable as well as fun, was there anything not to love about it? It helped that she was in pleasant company, of course, with her former apprentice and Olivestone at her side, but it wasn't just their presence that made her smile.

As her companions arrived, Olivestone finished her wash, and stood, waving her tail in greeting. With a smile, she responded, "Yep, let's go."

She turned and led the way onto the moor, her companions in tow. With a purposeful stride, the trio crested the nearest hill. With a nod, the deputy raised her head and sniffed the air, rabbit scent reaching her nose. On the next hill, a lone rabbit grazed, and she began to slink towards it. When she felt she was close enough, she broke out into a sprint, and charged towards her prey.

The rabbit never saw her coming, and she made a quick and clean kill.

Olivestone has attempted to hunt a rabbit. She was successful.

Zinnia set her paws out of camp, one at a time, and if she trailed a little bit behind her clanmates then she didn't really mind. It wasn't that she was slow by nature, but rather that she was taking her time, keeping a keen eye trained on the surrounding territory. As Olivestone chased down a rabbit, she spotted a bird, and fell into a hunting crouch as she moved in that direction before pouncing. She missed easily, however, and all she received for her efforts was a single feather. Despite its relative uselessness, she picked it up all the same - it would look pretty against her nest, at least.

Maplewhisker saw both of her companions dart off at the scent of prey, and scented a hare that neither of them was going for.  She followed the scent trail through some heather and saw the hare up ahead, scavenging.  After making sure the wind was blowing in the right direction, Maplewhisker snuck up on the hare and pounced.

Maplewhisker tried catching a hare, costing 3 SP.  Catch was successful.

Olivestone dragged her catch back to where the patrol had split from, waving her tail in triumph at Maplewhisker's catch, and smiling apologetically at Zinnia's missed prey. She dropped the rabbit for later use, and turned her attention back to the hunt, trotting off in a different direction to her Clanmates, the scent of hare on the breeze. With practiced ease, the deputy fell into a crouch as she approached the hare, using the tall grass as cover. However, before she could burst into a sprint and make a catch, the rabbit took off, bolting away as a wing-shadow passed over the deputy. She looked up to see sharp, cruel talons prepared to grab her, and she rolled out of the way, earning a screech of frustration from the eagle. Still, the talons raked her shoulder, opening up a couple of her scars from the battle the moon before. With a hiss, she dodged around the wings of the eagle and jumped on it's back, pinning it down and preventing it from taking flight, digging her claws deep into the eagle's flesh and feathers.

As the eagle descended, Zinnia didn't waste a moment's time on words of warning. Instead, she acted - in one swift movement she slashed violently at the bird, at a glance reaching for anything she could get her paws on. Upon a second glance, however, her aim was precise: she was reaching for its wings, hoping that if she damaged them enough it would be unable to take flight.

Zinnia used Rear-Up to Slash, dealing 13 damage and costing 15 stamina.
