Consultations [OPEN]

Perhaps it was the crackle of anxious paws on moss that sounded at the entrance of his den; or perhaps it was the distant chatter of kits at play. Whichever one the reason was, Torrentstar found himself awake. The RiverClan leader blinked wearily, sweeping his sleep-muddled gaze about for a quick confirmation of his surroundings. The view that met him was one of gnarled, ancient willow roots arcing above and around him. Through the curtain of ferns that obscured the only opening, mellow afternoon light was filtering in. He flicked one tufted ear, a light grimace crossing his maw. Yes, this was RiverClan camp all right. It was a fact that should have gone without saying... but recent nightmares had given him reason for hesitation. Slowly, almost painfully, the large tabby pulled himself free of his mossy nest. He had rested for long enough. As was his custom at noonhigh, he had taken a nap; but now it was time to return to work. To say that he felt ready would be a lie.

First of all was the guest that had been dawdling right outside. Either the cat was one with an abundance of patience, or the cat simply did not dare to wake the leader. It was no fault of anyone's, but Torrentstar could not help feeling mildly exasperated. In a few broad strides, he had crossed to the entrance and swept the curtain of ferns to one side. Green eyes bore intensely into those of the guest. "What can I help you with?" He grunted.

'Go on Cinderkit, you got this!' The white kit thought to himself. Cinderkit was trying to approach Torrentstar, in hopes of getting an early apprentice ceremony. The tom was quite confident in his skills already, after all he always sneaks up on sleeping queens and scares them! Who's to say that he wouldn't be able to do that when there's a mouse around? He also won scuffles with younger kits in the den. Needless to say, Cinderkit was confident! He would make a fine warrior for their clan.. Now all he had to do was.. Ask Torrentstar.

One thing that made him hesitant in asking - well was his age. And he heard that Ivybrook was in charge with apprentice ceremonies, but he searched every inch of camp! He couldn't find her! He wondered if she went on a patrol for some food.. Drat all this thinking made him hungry!

Cinderkit's thoughts got caught off when Torrentstar suddenly came out of his den. Alarmed the white kit retreated a few inches back. He didn't expect him to come out so suddenly! Cinderkit was intimidated by the intensity in his gaze. His big blue eyes could no longer meet his, and he looked down at the floor as he nervously mewed. "A-Ah! Sorry.." Was all he managed to say , nervously pawing at the snow - eyes averted.

Torrentstar realized a second too late that he had made a mistake. As far back as he could remember, kits had always found him an intimidating sight. His appearance certainly played a part there, but his rough demeanor was also at fault. He had been working on that flaw ever since he had become a father. In a moment of carelessness, however, he had allowed his true feelings to slip into his expression, startling a young one. "It's all right." He sighed. "You caught me off guard. That's all..." The smile that he attempted to flash was cramped, awkward, and very much unfamiliar to his face. "Did you need something?"

Cinderkit paused and tilted his head at the expression Torrentstar was making, he wasn't sure if he was smiling or smirking.. pushing that aside. Cinderkit felt a little more at ease, he thought Torrentstar would be really mean! Thats what he had heard from other kits. But that seems false, if anything he just seems too tense which isn't all that surprising. For a moment he forgot why he came to talk to Torrentstar, he glanced at the snow ridden ground, trying to remember what he wanted to ask his leader.

His ears perked up when he remembered. Cinderkit came to ask for an apprentice ceremony! Though he would probably get denied a ceremony since he was still too young. I want to become an apprentice!" Cinderkit mewed proudly, his eyes sparkled with excitement. His tail lightly swayed as he awaited a reply.

Cinderkit was just like any other young cat his age―lively and full of hope for the future. Could any hardships be found in those pure, shining eyes? Torrentstar found himself relaxing at the tom's eager request. While he might have disagreed in his younger moons, he now acknowledged the refreshing nature of a kit's innocence. He would humor the little one, just for a while... "I can see why you would want to be one." He began, dryly. "And I'm sure RiverClan has much to look forward to regards to your growth. You are almost six moons of age, Cinderkit. When that time comes, you will be made an apprentice." The leader's better judgment told him that such words would likely do little to dissuade the kit. An idea striking him, he continued. "Unless you believe that you're capable enough to deserve an early ceremony?"
