The Encounter
A Sweater Weather Solo {part 1}

Making his way through the lightly wooded territory with his vibrant golden gaze to the snow covered ground, Sunflower made his way to nowhere in particular as fluffy flakes of snow fell from above, causing him to shiver, per usual. As long as he kept walking, he'd be fine, or so he hoped. Originally, his leave of absence from camp was supposed to be because of a solo hunting patrol, but after several failed attempts at catching even the fattest, most clumsy of squirrels, the warrior decided to take a break. So here he was, wandering across the territory with only the peckish songs of woodland birds and his nervous thoughts to keep him company. Never in his life had he thought that he'd want to go on a patrol himself, but the fact of the matter was that he needed some time to himself, and would just have to be on the lookout for anything that might try and eat him alive.

Letting out a sigh, a familiar scent suddenly hit him in the nose, and snapping his head up from having been looking at his paws, the lengthy boned tom stared in disbelief at the sight before him; the Twolegplace. He'd been here once before, when he'd met with Leaftwirl for the last time, but why had his paws brought him here again?

A couple foxlengths in front of him stood the towering wall of a fence, which stretched as far as the eye could see, and the sharp, potent smells of Twolegs sent a shiver up his spine bony. He really mustn't have been paying attention to where he'd been going, for he didn't think he'd gone this far...

Shocked by disbelief and fear, the shivering warrior began to slowly shuffle his way backwards when the sound of a branch snapping sent him practically jumping out of his pelt. Crouching down with his abnormally large ears flat against his head and tail tucked under his rump, the warrior scanned the area in front of him, fearful that viscous rouges had found him, but what he saw wasn't what he'd been expecting at all.

Standing next to a break in the fence was a small Twoleg with long fur on its head, staring right at him. Like any sane warrior, he should've been scared, but for the first time in the cowardly tom's life, curiosity took hold. If he needed to run, he was ready and knew he wouldn't have any trouble outrunning a creature with only two legs, but for now, he would wait. Part of him wondered if the Twoleg had even caught sight of him, but deep down, he knew perfectly well that she'd spotted him. To his surprise, the Twoleg crouched down and held out a small, naked paw. Watching as the human made clicking type noises while holding out one of its fur-less paws, Sunflower continued to stare in disbelief. Was this Twoleg summoning him?

Confused and the fear that his life was in danger nipping at the back of his neck, he began to back up once more, but something stopped him in his tracks. Her voice, though not any means of understandable, was calm and somewhat... soothing, to say the least. As she crouched in front of him, her paw out in a welcoming gesture, her cooing seemed to be calling out to him like a Queen's soft voice. Was this how they stole clan cats? With soft meows mimicking a Queen?

Before he was able to do anything, the Twoleg jumped up, causing him to crouch back down to the ground. Holding out her paws and barking something to him, she disappeared behind the fence in a hurry. What in StarClan's name had that been all about? Well, wherever she'd run off to, it was none of his business and it was probably for the best that she left. Turning around to head back to familiar territory, the Twoleg's voice sounded from behind him and an appetizing scent filled the air around him, causing him to turn around. Resting in her paw was a weird thing, filled with some sort of juicy prey. Had she just gone to hunt for him? Whatever she'd brought back with her... it wasn't something to be ignored and while part of him tried to fight the urge to approach her, his stomach wanted otherwise.

It's The Thought That Counts
A Sweater Weather Solo {part 2}

Mouth watering as if he hadn't eaten in moons, the shivering tom took a step forward, his gaze darting back and forth to check for any other impending danger that might have been lurking about. Luckily for him the coast was clear, or so he prayed. Having tunnel vision for the food that sat in front of him, he stalked forward, his ears pinned back and his long tail tucked under his rump, he made sure to also keep an eye on the Twoleg, who'd set the prey down and was now sitting behind it, a smile stretching across her bald muzzle. Was he really going to accept prey from a Twoleg? Yes, yes he was, but if she made any sudden moments, he was ready to flee.

Reaching the preserved prey, Sunflower took a good long sniff. It didn't smell like any sort of poison, not that he really knew what poison smelt like, but the longer he stared at the mushy prey, the more his mouth watered, until he just couldn't take it anymore and had to try some.

Leaning down, the lanky, shivering tom took a bite. Instantly, whatever it was melted in his jowls and it was a true delectable compared to what the clans ate. There was a sort of sweetness to it unlike he'd ever tasted before, but he couldn't quite put his tongue on what it was, not that he really cared.

Taking another bite, and then another, Sunflower succumbed to enjoying the mesmerizing prey that the Twoleg had provided him, and in the process, had been foolish enough to let his guard down just enough for the Twoleg to best him.

With him distracted the young girl pulled out a blue and white, knitted sweater that had belonged to her late cat, Mittens, and shoved it over the tall, pale cat's odd shaped head, causing him to let out a surprised hissed. Grabbing hold of his stick-like legs with her now cold hands, she pushed his paws through the arm holes of the thing. He struggled, which made things difficult, but soon enough, she was done and let him go to stumble backwards. He was obviously cold in such harsh weather and this would help him out, she was sure of it. But of course, she was aware that in the process, she'd lost his trust. Hopefully, he'd someday realize how she'd helped him.

Standing up with a sigh, she watched as the feline ran away, leaving a flurry of snow behind him. Looking down, it was a shame that he hadn't been able to finish the canned food she'd brought out, but she decided to leave it where it was. Most likely a house cat would eat the rest, but as long as she was able to feed someone, that was fine by her. She hated to have scared him like that, but there was no way that he could possibly survive the winter with short fur like that, especially if he was a feral cat, and she hoped that her gift, although it may be a curse for him at first, ended up aiding him in the long haul.

{End of solo, but to be continued elsewhere...}
