Something strange had happened in the Oasis. There was an unusual pelt among those big, fluffy, and nearly entirely white-pelted cats. Arcayus had peered from the edges of one of the many root dens. This kit had a short, solid brown coat. It was curious. He'd pressed about it several times but Marie reassured him that this was just the way of their home. That kit had lost their parents and had nowhere else to go, so it was their duty to raise her. One of the many Oasis cats had adopted her, as curious as she was and how much she stood out here.
'It's not good for kits to grow up alone, Arcayus, love of a parent is something that cannot be replaced.'
Despite the many seasons that had passed, how his joints now ached with age occasionally coupled with the constant running of moons, those words of his mother stuck in his head. He'd heard the whispering of the pair of kits that resided in the nursery. Of course, given that these clans cared for their own, the queens had taken up care of the two but it was a shared duty. Arc's mind kept circling between two things: Elmskip and the kits. Since his previous relationship, the latter seemed like an easier step to handle right now. Besides, the Windclan warrior was out on a patrol. While worry overwhelmed with all of the recent events, after the battle that had occurred in camp, it seemed that the moorlands had been left eerily quiet. Swallowing back any negative thoughts, he padded towards the nursery and softly greeted the queens that were there before seeking out the pair that was playing just outside.
"Hey kits, what are you playing? Do you mind if I join?" The elder tom offered them a warm smile. His gait held no trace of the twisted paw that had first rendered him unable to run. It was strange, seeing both of them with the joyful youth in their step, it warmed his heart and soothed his soul. For so long, he had sought to run from any sense of belonging and keeping himself distanced from anything else. The tom's mind still tried to push away the guilt from having left his own home. But that was so long ago. There was nothing he could do now, other than allow himself to ease into clan life. And even now, he still sought to honor Oasis through what he was doing. Not even great distances and time could strip who he was from his core, even if he had yet to realize that.
