Timberkit's Apprentice Ceremony

There was a soft grunt as Foxfire scrambled onto the Tallbranch, wincing at his wounds that hadn’t fully healed since the battle. It was...Hard, dealing with the losses that they found themselves with but they had to move on - there was little time to focus on what had happened when there was responsibilities he still had to face. “Let all cats old enough to climb trees gathering beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!” he called out.

Timberkit darted to beneath the Tallbranch at Foxfire's call. His sister had had her apprentice ceremony, so this had to be his, right?! Excitedly, he hopped from one paw to the other, tail straight out, eyes shining up at the deputy.

“Timberkit, please step forward,” the deputy called out upon seeing the young tom, smiling softly at him. “Timberkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Timberpaw. Your mentor will be Flowerthorn.” It hadn’t been hard to pick Flowerthorn - he knew that she would be a bit...Rough around the edges but he wanted to remind her that she wasn’t going to be forgotten again - not by him, not by anybody if he had anything to say about it. “I hope Flowerthorn will pass down all she knows on to you.”

Her? She was picked for an apprentice? Flowerthorn was sitting in the back of the group like usual. Never expecting her name to be called for an apprentice. So it took her a moment to get up to Timberpaw, and a moment to process that she actually had an apprentice. She didn't really understand why she was picked given her current attitude. She didn't really know what to say to the young tom. "Um.. I will do my best." She said to Timberpaw.

The pale kit purred happily, touching noses with his new mentor perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. "I'll be the best apprentice!" he crowed, and then fell silent, adding, after a moment of thought: "Except my sister. She'll be the best apprentice, too!"
