Sparkpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Tonight, her daughter received her warrior name.

The thought was a jarring one, and the she-cat considered it as she took her place atop Jaggedrock. Daisyflame told Thornstar of Sparkpaw's wittiness and her talent in battle. How the lump had learned quickly, albeit with a healthy amount of attitude.

Her daughter had grown up so fast.

Thornstar couldn't help the pang in her chest. Her first litter was lost to the waves of time, swept away into a place she could not follow... at least, not yet. They hadn't even a chance to truly begin their apprenticeships. And yet, here was Sparkpaw, taking her place among her fellow clanmates as a proud warrior.

The feeling was bittersweet.

"Shadowclan, gather."

Today was the day. After countless training sessions and assessments with Daisyflame, guidance from her father, and ... yes, even endless encouragement from her uncle, she was finally eligible to become a warrior. At her mother’s call from the Jaggedrock, she padded up to the center of the camp with Sans at her side. She could just feel his pride rolling off of him like scent.

However, she quickly noticed that her rather annoying uncle wasn’t at her other side, like how she just knew he would be. He did love her and her littermates very much, even if his behavior was a little too much to bear. Looking behind her, she tried seeking out Poppyheart’s russet pelt in the crowd, but she couldn’t see him. He must still be distraught over the death of ShadowClan’s former deputy and his mate Redwing. She could only imagine what it felt like to lose someone you love so dearly. She felt sorry for him.

Why did she feel sudden disappointment that her uncle wasn’t by her side this day?...

Stopping before her mother, the Clan leader, she looked up at her expectantly. She was ready to become a warrior.

Sparkfire has returned to ShadowClan with her mate Honeysong and her adopted son Softkit.
Honeysong has followed Sparkfire back to ShadowClan and has given up her medicine cat title.
Bubblepaw has begun her training under her mother and mentor Flashlight.

"Tonight, we celebrate the naming of a new warrior. Sparkpaw, step forward."

She watched her daughter approach, that fire in her golden-eyed gaze filling the leader's heart with pride.

"I, Thornstar, leader of Shadowclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of our code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Sparkpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Sparkpaw did as she was told, standing even straighter with her chest puffed out and her tail raised high in the air. With an excited twinkle in her usually calm and collected eyes, she formally replied, "I do."

"Then by the power of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Sparkpaw, from this moment on you shall be known as Sparkfire. StarClan honors your independence and integrity, and I personally honor your sharp tongue and savagery. We welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan." Thornstar's gaze grew warm as she leapt down and touched her muzzle to her kit's forehead.

"You did good, lump. I'm proud of you."
