Sagekit sighed, yawning as her tail flicked upward before gracefully falling back down onto the nest. Her eyes were a light blue but had shown signs of a changing pigment to merely a slight greyer, greener color. It wasn't a big change and she had only noticed when she saw her reflection in an ice-puddle. None of the other kits had commented on it, nor had Chervilkit- who she was sure would. Sagekit glared down at her small paws in confusion, occasionally glancing upwards at the dark blue sky and the camp that was shrouded in a cold darkness. It was much warmer in the den, and, the warmth of her brother was pretty nice too.

Maybe they aren't even changing, she thought, not wanting to bring the subject up with anyone as to avoid the embarrassment that would come with asking if they really are a different color. She grunted and hit the ground with her left paw, loathing not knowing.

In an instant though, her fur spiked up as she stared open-wide out into the clearing. It seemed desolate, dreary, and frankly very scary. And with every bird that cawed and with every stray leaf that scratched at the ground with its thin yet rigid and crisp ends, she became more and more afraid. And yet, a feeling of intrigue intertwined with her fear and soon her heart beat loudly. Her muscles clenched and her eyes unblinking, in an adrenaline trance; trying to decide if she should go outside of the nice, comfortable den. She risked waking up her brother, and other den-mates with this attempt but it seemed so much more appealing than staying up all night dwelling on the day's events. She couldn't sleep if she wanted to, anyway.

So, with not much thought, she began her escape from the clutches of her humble abode. First, she slowly lifted herself and pushed upwards some of the moss she had been sleeping on to replace the absent warmth of her actual body that had been there when she was laying next to Chervilkit. Hopefully, he won't notice. She thought as he squirmed awkwardly next to the kicked up nest, and then he returned to his normal docile sleeping state. Sagekit let out a short and quiet sigh of relief as she picked up each paw individually around the tangle of limbs Chervilkit had previously thrown over her that were now crisscrossed atop themselves, How can he sleep in such an uncomfortable position?

Swiftly, she jumped out of the nest. Her small fluffy frame landing unsteadily on the cold ground, and nearly immediately shivers spiked through-out her body. The regret had set in as she eyed the comfy nest longingly, but, still, she turned toward the seemingly gaping entrance of the den. It swallowed them up and gave them shelter-- there was no changing her mind, she was gonna go out there. Exit the maw of our savior, she abruptly thought. It confused her so quickly she shook her head and the odd thought was in the back of her mind. Putting one paw in front of her, she left the den. With her fur sticking upward and her tail doing the same, she ran out the den. Awkwardly, as she wasn't exactly used to running yet, but still. And as soon as she was out she was hit with another wave of regret when rough winds tottered her left and right, pushing her all which way.

Frustrated that she had no hold of herself she let out a mew, though hushed against the loud roars of the wind. The cold set in, too. Quickly as it made it's way up her paws, limbs, and tail her body seemed to toss more and more in the wind. If she had the chance to get a hold of herself, even with her now small claws unsheathed she still had no control. And, she grew tired from the struggle.

Letting out another mew in desperation, she hoped someone would hear her. "Help!" she hated this, her inability to even keep herself standing on the ground, and resorting to asking for help. Embarrassment flooded her but if her embarrassment was a flood then her helplessness was a tsunami.

Murkpaw was attempting to sleep amidst the mound of snoring, shuffling cats he was shoved in against. This is worse than the nursery! His eyes, wide open and probably bloodshot, twitched as he ground his teeth together, trying to find a way to sleep. Nobody gives me room, they all just curl up and go to sleep as soon as they touch the ground... what is wrong with these cats?! Just then, as he curled tighter, trying to shove his paws over his ears, a small squeak pierced through the wind howling outside. More noise?! Letting out an explosive snort, he thrust himself up out of his nest, not bothering to avoid the sleeping forms around him, some of whom grunted in their dreams as he stepped on tails.
Outside, the wind almost immediately flattened his fur against his body, and he glared out at the silent moor for a moment. If he hadn't managed to get to sleep in the noisy den, he'd probably find it harder out here. Turning to go back inside, he suddenly noticed a weird small form clinging to the ground as it was practically blown over the dirt. What in StarClan is that? He stared, unblinking, unmoving, as it squeaked again, recognizing the small form of a kit. Flicking his tail after a moment, he turned back to the entrance of the den. Somebody would probably pick it up.
Then his conscience spoke up, in the form of Smokepelt, no less; or at least, something he would probably say. "Go save the kit, mousebrain. Who else will?"
Grumbling under his breath, he reluctantly turned, stomped over to the squeaking, shivering kit, and snatched it up, still grumbling. A few steps and he was in the nursery, where he unceremoniously dumped the kit, which was heavier than he'd expected. With a twitch of his tail, he turned to exit the nursery, and hopefully get some sleep before his mentor worked him to death the next day.

Sagekit's mouth gaped as she was lifted off the ground once more. Not from the wind, this time, but rather from the body of another cat who had heard her. She didn't initially realize this though and nearly mewed again before she had the chance to though she was tossed into the nursery with a thud. Unconsciously, she had been purring. Overjoyous that she had been saved, but still fear ran through her. I'm not doing that ever again!

Embarrassment was a terrible thing, it seemed to be the bane of Sagekit's existence. And she hated it just as equally. She was embarrassed in particular that she thought that doing that would ever be a good idea, I won't ever go out there again! A promise which was only natural to be broken seemed to light a fire ever-so passionate in the little furball's heart. And as she glanced upward she saw a glimpse of the cat who had rescued her, their face smeared against the dark hue-filled canvas that was the outside as they turned to leave. Catching merely a glimpse of the piercing yellow eyes that were placed so valiantly on his sharp features, that sent a feeling of admiration fluttering in her mind.

But, as quick as it had all happened he made a hasty leave, clearly not wanting to be there. Sagekit made her way back to the nest, not caring about being careful and plopped down tiredly. Quickly she fell asleep, as her muscles were so fatigued she could barely stand up any longer. And as she slept the wind was hushed as her mews had been to the nightmares that kept her tossing and turning throughout the night. Although it was for a mere moment and she didn't even know who it was, she had a new-found respect to they who had saved her, a kind of respect that wasn't really shared by anyone else.
