Brackenkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep leaped up onto the Tallrock with a grin decorating his face. A young, lucky kit was going to be apprenticed today! They will train to become a great warrior. The brown tom's face changed to a more serious expression before he continued with the ceremony. In his heart, he was really excited for this young kit. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Brackenkit slowly rose up at the sound of a clan meeting, he was taking an afternoon nap before he heard the deputy's voice. The brown kit dragged his paws to stand in front of Tallrock. "Oh this must be my apprentice ceremony!" He finally realized.

The deputy gazed down at the tom-kit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Brackenkit, please step forward." Once the kit did, the deputy nodded approvingly and then began to speak again, "Brackenkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Brackenpaw. Smokepelt will be your mentor. He's a very experienced warrior so I know he will pass down everything he knows on to you."

Hearing his name called, Smokepelt heaved himself up from where he was sitting and slowly but surely made his way over to his new apprentice. "We'll start training tomorrow," the tall, dark grey and white tom mewed blandly as he touched noses with the younger tom.

The newly named apprentice, Brackenpaw, shyly made his way to touch noses with his mentor. "Okay!" He responded, barely able to contain the excitement in his voice.
