A new life:

Hurried paw steps could be heard entering Windclan's camp. Swiftstep had just returned from a patrol cut short. The ball of nervous fluff hanging from his jaws was the cause of that. He and two other clan-mates had found the kit all bloodied and shaken in the territory. The poor she-kit had recently lost both her parents and had nowhere to go. The deputy did the most logical thing and decided to take the kit back to camp. She could've frozen to death or could've become a predator's next meal if his small patrol hadn't found her. Right now, he needed to see what Brindlestar thought of this situation. "Brindlestar!" called the brown tom after placing down the she-kit and giving her a few reassuring nudges.

The dilute ginger tabbied kitten once she was brought into the camp widened her eyes some she huddled close to the tom after he set her down scared blood still spiking her fur. She moved behind his front paws as more cats came into veiw. Jem wasn't sure what was going to hapoen she just knew she couldnt go back out there again.

It wasn't entirely unusual for hunting patrols to bring back a wide variety of freshly-caught creatures- in fact, they often brought back anything from rabbits and hares to the occasional stray woodland creatures. But rare was the day that they brought back a kit! Especially during times such as this, where they could hardly afford the luxury of hosting visitors.

Abandoning the tedious task of speaking with one of her Clanmates, Brindlestar's features were shadowed with a faint frown as she made her way towards Swiftstep, who appeared to be quite proud of his unusual find.  Whoever the little bundle of bloodied fluff was, it was clearly not a WindClanner. Tail giving a sporadic twitch as she hurriedly made her way towards the dark-furred tom, her whiskers gave an uneasy twitch. The last time a stray kit showed up, Ivystar wasn't far behind it. What if this was some sort of ploy on Lichenmask's behalf? Was it all just a cruel trick? "And what is this?" Brindlestar eventually questioned, expression unreadable as she leaned forward to give the battered little molly a curious inhale. Although the kit's scent was soured with the faint, acrid scent of sweat, blood, and fear, she didn't catch any remnants of Clan scent clinging to the kit's fur. Likely abandoned. But what kind of parents would abandon a kit during such dismal times?

Brackenkit was chasing a leaf just outside of the nursery before the Windclan deputy came bounding into camp. He stopped what he was doing and curiously peered at the scene, taking in his leader's worried expression and the she-kit's terrified presence. This was the most excitement he's ever experienced since he wasn't allowed to do fun things like going on patrols and fighting in battles.

Jem fur seemed to ruffle up in fear for a moment as Brindlestar got close enough to catch her scent. She stayed where she had tried to hide unsure of the other cats. She looked to Brindlestar with wide soft green eyes."w...w...who a.are you?"She asked in a small voice. But she knew that she wasn't being talked to she noticed she was talking to the tom who had brought her here. Who had promised her a home and food

"My patrol and I have found this kit in he territory. She had no clan scent. I asked her about her parents and unfortunately, they were recently killed. She must've run away from her parent's murderer. I believe so anyway seeing all that blood on her. I was thinking that we should keep this kit. If we send her out, anything could get to her. The cold, a predator, the killer, hunger, anything can. She's just a kit after all." Swiftstep looked down at the she-kit, giving her a gentle smile. The poor dear couldn't survive out their without proper knowledge of how the territories work. The brown tom began to wait for what Brindlestar was going to say.

The bloody heap of fur looked up at Swiftstep as he spoke to the leader,or whom she thought was the leader how they found her. She seemed to relax her ruffled up fur laginf as flat as it could with the blood spiking her fur. She let out a tiny pur for a moment staying close to him before falling quiet her gaze on Brindlestar for her answer as well

"Lacking Clan scent means nothing these days," Brindlestar reproached sharply, ears twisting inwards in a physical display of the flicker of irritation, "You know as well as I do that plenty of Clan cats walk these lands without a scent. We've seen what those Exiles are capable of doing, what they're willing to do- I have not an inkling of doubt within my heart that they'd be perfectly fine with using their young against us." Hardly sparing a single glance at the ragged molly who lingered about uncertainly at her paws, the pale-furred Leader's vigorous gaze remained fixated upon the determined features of Swiftstep. Peering into the depths of his amber gaze, wrought with optimism, the molly remained silent for heartbeat or two as she nonverbally weighed the consequences of the decision before her. It was another mouth to provide for in the season of unbearable hunger, yet what would it be if the kit lasted no more than a single sunrise or so? Then at least there would be some way for her to properly sent off into whatever life came next. "If you find a Queen willing to care for another, I shall not object. However, do not go against whatever I ask of you if this kit turns out to be more trouble than she's worth." Brindlestar eventually sighed, usually silken voice prickling with a faint warning as she gave into the request of her Deputy.
