A Heart Full of Love (Open)

She was still tired from the kitting several days before, but Firflower lay in her new nest in the nursery, her pale head on top of her soft paws. The new queen gazed lovingly at the kits curled next to her. She felt pleasantly warm and content, even though the sky outside was still that eerie red. The rhythmic rise and fall of their little chests and their rounded features made her heart feel like a blossom coming into full bloom. She moved forward to lick each of their tiny heads. She peered outside without really getting up so as not to disturb her kittens and gazed about for her beloved Cloudroar. Had he gone on a patrol? Or was he still in camp? They were both new parents and, well, surely he'd want to spend time with them? 'Come on now, he's a warrior too. He has his duties to attend to.' Still, she couldn't seem to see him enough. Shifting back to her original position, she groomed her side before switching to her young children's' faces.

Sagekit mewled softly. He couldn't see yet but his tiny paws scrabbled along the ground as he wiggled around. Every so often he would shift away from the warmth of his mother and then cry until he managed to find his way back. All in all the nest was cozy and warm and his littermates were handy for cuddling up against. A rough tongue pressed down on his head as Firflower gave him a quick lick. He mewled again and wiggled closer to her with a sigh of content.

Fluffy, delicate cream and grey fur melded with soft ginger as Robinkit rested, firmly pressed up against her mother. She didn't do much moving, apart from the occasional shift; the world was a scary, dark place with blurred sounds she couldn't distinguish, so Mom and her siblings would have to do. With a tiny whine as her mother began to groom her face, she yawned and nuzzled even further into her mother's fur, tiny figure rising and falling gently with every soft breath she took.

Slatepaw was scurrying along the pathway towards the nursery. She has been meaning to visit the place she once called home. Memories from the past flashes through her clean mind filling it up with clouds of unspeakable emotions. Her ears perk up as she hears the cries and laughter from the kits inside the nursery. Slatepaw couldn’t resist going in to see what the cute little bundles of joy are up to.

Young kits skitter around the nursery basically tripping over there own 4 paws, making Slatepaw stumble a little. The warmth from the nursery seeping through her pelt gave Slatepaw some sense of everything will be alright. The lit up room banished all the evil that was suffocating the whole of Skyclan, well that’s what Slatepaw thought at least.

Her seafoam green eyes glance a round the room as something catches her eye. A mother and her kits sitting closely with each other, like she was protecting them from the outside world. This made her heart fill with joy and purity.

In the medicine cat's den, Amberpaw swept a bundle of herbs into a small pile, looking them over carefully both to make sure she had included no withered leaves and also to ensure that she had grabbed the right ones. She knew that she didn't always need to second guess herself, but running through the list again made her feel better. Feverfew to help with her aching. Borage to ensure she has enough milk for her kits.[i] Amberpaw glanced over to a small store of honeycomb and purred as she reached a paw in to scoop a small amount of honey on top of the herb bundle. [i]And some honey to give her energy, and to mask the bitter tastes.

With that, the medicine cat apprentice picked up the bundle and made her way to the nursery. She slipped in and dipped her head to an apprentice, Slatepaw is her name I think, edging past her to set the herbs in front of Firflower. "Good morning, Firflower," Amberpaw purred warmly. "Would you eat these? They'll help give you energy and keep your milk flowing." Her dark amber eyes glanced at the kits snuggling the queen's belly. "How are they doing?" The apprentice gave each of them a quick sniff, satisfied that there were no scents of any illness or injury in either.

Spottedpaw peered in from the entrance. The nursery was crammed enough already, so he stayed outside and watched Firflower and her kits. He was still young; he was the newest apprentice in SkyClan and had hardly had his name for more than a few days now... not that it was easy to tell how many days had passed in the darkness. He was nervous despite his calm appearance; Firflower had looked out for him and comforted him when his parents left for a patrol and never came back. Would she forget him now that he had moved out and she had her own kits to worry about? "They're cute." He meowed quietly, trying not to distract or interrupt the medicine cat apprentice from her work.

Slatepaw watched as the medicin cat made her way into the nursery and over towards the mother and the fluffy kits. She decided it was time to get back to what she had planned that day, or night? She could not really tell anymore. Slatepaw turns and quietly creaps out of the nursery trying not to disturb that cats inside. The coolish air flows through her pelt as the red krimson light reflects of her seafoam green eyes.

Slatepaw quickly glances around and spots a newly Apprentice gazing in the window of the nursery. The thought of someone watching her or the kits kinda unsettled her. She looks him up and down, confused as to why she’s never seen him around before. Slatepaw through felt dry and  walks shakenly up towards the Tom cat.

”H-h-hi...umm...” Slatepaw stutters looking down at the dying grass. She slowly regrets trying to make conversation with other cats.

Mapleshade peered through the Warriors' Den, scanning the darkened camp with an edginess that she never usually had. Her emerald eyes were clouded as darkness loomed overhead. A jolt of happiness filled the edgy she-cat as she remembered Firflower had had her litter. Mapleshade padded out of the cold den, heading towards the Nursery - surely seeing small, healthy kits would help her feel more safe?
She poked her head through into the milk-scented den, gazing at the newly-born kits. Perhaps that would be her one day...
