Ice Berries [CLOSED for Jay Bird]

The white body of one of the newest kits, Icekit, shone through camp. He wasn’t hard to spot, his long white pelt distinctly like his mother’s. Easily seen in the light. He wished he wasn’t so visible, it made him feel vulnerable. The white tom was sitting near the nursery, allowing space between himself and the other kits at play. His serious demeanor and perfectly upright sitting position almost dated someone to come play fight him. He focused his heterochromatic eyes on the horizon, the sun was high in the sky and it was a cloudless day. The chill of leaf-fall was well set in at this point, even with the sun at its highest it was beginning to feel cooler. He stayed in the slight shadow of the nursery hoping to StarClan that no cat would see him. He wasn’t the best at socializing and besides, who needs friends? All they do is slow you down. Though... if they match your skill, perhaps they don’t. Icekit was pondering this, quite oblivious to the world around him.

The older tom had noticed Icekit presence since he was born. During that time, his mother asked him to be his friend and the kit was not a cat who failed to do what other asked him to. With a purr, the large older tom-kit approached his denmate in a crouch position, attempting to surprise him. With amazing stealth, Berrykit came closer and in the last second, he jumped over him, tackling him down in a friendly and light-hearted way. "What's up, Icekit? Wanna play with me?" He asked on top of the smaller kit. Of course, even if Berrykit was often impulsive he did care for other and he made sure that his "attack" didn't hurt the white-furred tom in any way.

Icekit heard the soft steps of a cat approaching. He was unsure of whether or not it was a warrior, but he assumed they would make their presence known. He shut his eyes for a moment, inhaling. If this cat didn't say something he was about to just turn around and pounce on them. He finally was fed up with the noise and turned, his amber eye catching a glimpse of golden fur. He prepared himself to pounce.

Too late, he had been tackled.

He flicked his ears, suddenly he knew who did it. Icekit knew Berrykit's voice already. He had been around right after he was born. He liked Berrykit slightly better than the others, but only slightly. He turned his head to face Berrykit's. "Greetings Berrykit." He lashed his tail in annoyance while scrambling to his paws. He contemplated the question for a moment, curious. Perhaps he could show his fighting skills to the older kit. "Sure, we could play fight or somethin'. Or we could play tag. You choose." He enjoyed both these games, they allowed him to get faster or learn fighting moves.

He smiled even though the other cat seemed a little annoyed. At least he wanted to play with him. With a purr, the large kit crouched in a battle position, his tail held high and his eyes fixed on the white-furred tom. "Fight me! We've to prepare so we can be amazing warriors one day, don't you think?" After saying that, he poked the tom's forehead playfully, inviting him to join the game. They could pretend to be grown-up warriors fighting in a border skirmish for territory! Maybe one day that fantasy could come true! They had to be prepared!

"True. Let's fight then!" His small, squeaky kit voice was filled with excitement. Fighting was one of the only things he got excited about when playing. As he saw his fellow kit crouch, he bounded at him. Sure, Berrykit was taller, but he was faster! He threw himself at Berrykit, aiming to knock him over so he could play swipe at him. Icekit's fur was ploofed out to it's fullest extent, and his eyes were glinting mischievously. He was warming up to Berrykit, perhaps if he beat him, then he might choose to be friends with him. Even if he didn't beat him he might be friends with him, he had known him literally since he had been born.

The tom was surprised by the fast attack but he did not get shocked for too long. With a delighted yelp, he wasn't knocked because of his fluffy fur and broad build but a little shaken. Despite that, he yowled as he was trying to fight him from the front. However, reminding what Starlord and Jaystar told him once, he instead bounced to one side and tackled him then with his whole body. He was large and that made him slower yet he could use that extra weight to give potential enemies a good stun. He rolled with him through the dusty ground of the nursery, with a contagious laugh that came out of his muzzle. When they stopped rolling, he playfully stood up in front of the white-furred tom and batted his ears. "Come on, Icekit! You can do better than that! Use your hind legs too!"

Icekit had been easily shaken off, and then somewhat squashed by Berrykit's superior weight. They rolled and rolled, it was kinda fun. Except Berrykit had the advantage now since he was in such close proximity. He felt his ears get batted and flicked his ears in acknowledgment at Berrykit's advice. Where had he learned this? This was pretty fun, and he was learning. He launched his small body with his hind legs onto Berrykit, who could hold his weight, but not for long. He playfully got the golden tom back for hitting him and did the same. Once he had, he hopped off. Icekit shook his fur, which made him look like a white blur for a moment. "Where'd you learn this stuff! You're really good at this!" He looked at the only slightly older kit in awe of his abilities.
