Thornpaw currently crouched in the grass, his large blue-green eyes narrowed in concentration. There was no way he would let Darkpaw win this- what if Mothpaw found out? The very thought of that made the young apprentice shiver with embarrassment. He couldn't let that happen.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, a large rustling coming from the grass nearby made the tom turn, his ears pricked. What on earth was that? It had a large, bushy tail, but tiny ears. It was like a... reverse rabbit of some sort. The gray tom licked his chops; whatever it was, it smelled delicious. Surely this counted, right? It was bigger than any rabbit he had ever seen, so it was bound to score him some points.
Without further ado Thornpaw abruptly stood up, his tail lashing. This thing had tiny, stubbly little legs. There was no way it could outrun him! With a hiss, Thornpaw gave chase and easily overtook his quarry, catching it in his paws and killing it in one, swift motion. "I got one!"
