Coldkit's Apprentice Ceremony

It was sometime in the early evening. The heat from the hottest part of the day had already faded, leaving the air now rather cool. As Scorchclaw got to his paws from where he lay in the shade, he arched his back, stretching himself. In a moment, he would have to begin organizing the evening patrols, but for now an apprentice ceremony was about to take place. The tabby tom scanned the camp casually for the sight of Coldkit. He did not interact much with the younger cats, so he had no idea what kind of a cat she was. A soft, nagging voice in the back of his mind told him that a good deputy would get to know his clanmates better. With a silent huff of irritation, Scorchclaw pushed the voice aside. He would do things his own way. Smoothly making his way unto the Willow Branch, he let out the summons that would soon gather his clanmates together. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!"

Coldkit hurried out of the nursery, this would be her cermony, she was sure of it! She sat down close to the Willow branch and looked up with a excited smile.

Seeing that his clanmates had all gathered, Scorchclaw began the ceremony with a flick of his tail. "Coldkit, step forward." When the kit had done as he instructed, he continued. "Coldkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Coldpaw and your mentor will be Minnowslip." It was over pretty quickly, but that was all the fluffy deputy had to say. He watched the newly named apprentice with green eyes that were slightly narrowed. Who knew what kind of path StarClan had laid out for her? He could only hope that it would be a kind one.

She smiled brightly, she was a apprentice now! She purred quietly and looked at Minnowslip with a smile.

"Ha, nice! Welcome to apprenticehood, Coldpaw. Get ready to learn everything I can teach you!" Minnowslip meowed warmly, touching noses with her newly named apprentice. She was pumped to teach this little one everything she knew.
